Heads up!
I just received the email below from my freinds at Aids Lifecycle. The GG
Bridge could be quite a mess on both the East and West sides, as well as the SF
entrance, around mid-day next Sunday.
Hmm, mass protests and beefed up police activity... not what I want on my
Sunday ride.
Two other Sundays coming up could also involve detours or delays to early
morning cyclists using the bridge.

Subject: Code Pink on Sunday March 9th 2008
Hi, just wanted to give you a heads up that Code Pink is going to try to have a
larger than usual demonstration on the Bridge next Sunday. They are planning on
giving civil disobedient classes in the Marin Headlands and march down to the
Bridge. We have also heard that they will try to hit us harder than usual and
have been more belligerent the last few times they have been here. CHP is
preparing for the worst and may react more aggressively if they get rowdy. The
hours they are permitted to be on the Bridge will be 11:30AM to 2:00PM. I don't
think the Bridge will close the west sidewalk. I'll actually be working that day
so you can call my cell if you have any questions and if I'm not in a mess of
protesters I'll try to answer.
on March 16th we are going to have the 12k across the bay where they will be
running across the west sidewalk from Sausalito starting at 6:00AM to 10:00AM.
This should not effect the east sidewalk so you should be fine. This is the one
where they run down lincoln but are roped off. I think bikes have to go through
the east parking lot to access the east sidewalk.
I also see that on Sunday April 6th we have the Guardsman run from 7:00AM to
11:00AM. I think that was the one that messed everything up last year because
they wanted both sidewalks closed to cyclists. I'll double check on that one
tomorrow to see if they actually got their permit. OK
hope you are enjoying this beautifull day
Danny
