Here's the story of Alan Sweeton a disc golfer who some of you may know. He continues to play the sport of Disc Golf despite losing his ability to see.

Thanks for watching,

I played the Poor House Farm course today, and for a guy like me, it is sooooooooooo cool.  Having a short, weak, arm, it's just what I need to fill the gap for me between Wilson College and The Falls.  I would call it an advanced intermediate course. A great layout with just enough lefts, rights, and elevation changes. The person(s) who laid this course out knows what they are doing. The course will serve both beginners and advanced players.  And if B pins or tees come later, the challange will be there for the strong armed guys too.  Just the right amount of trees and distances to make me do things right to par.  Only 3 miles off I 81, lodging, food, and beverages, you can play a round, take a break, and come back for more.  Up on the ridges, away from the picnicers, and other park users, and no out of bounds is another thing I like about the course.  Even without signage (which I"m sure will come later), it was easy to spot the next tee, just by looking for the temporary orange stakes.  The fairways are wide enough that, if they are maintained, will prevent lost time looking for lost discs. If the course is not named Poor House Farm, my vote would be for "Serenity Ridge."  It is so quiet and peaceful there.  It would not be fair to mention suggestions for the course, because it is not yet finished.  As for "digging steps" as someone mentioned, I really see no need for that.  I"m 70 years of age and had no problem negotiating the course, even hole 18 which is probably the signature hole, and is right there with hole 13 at Whispering Falls. I can't wait to play it again when the tees are completed. My congratulations to the designer(s) and work crew for what, in my opinion, is one of the best advanced recreational courses in the area.  Living near Whispering Falls, which is also a great course, (but not for my weak arm), I usually play there but I'll definitely be driving the short distance down to the Poor House Farm to keep up with the new developents as the course if completed.  Thanks again guys for a sweet, sweet disc golf course.  Wild Bill

Looks like 18 Baskets are already in the ground or are soon to be so.  One of my coworkers lived in the farm house up to a year ago and said that it is sweet park.  Very cool.

Has anybody been to the course that's being put in in Martinsburg? I was thinking about getting a few of us together to go play it sometime. I might head down today depending on weather and if I can find somebody to go.

As I am sure many of you know, I have quite a pile of used plastic
taking up space in our office. I am trying to thin the collection out
some, as I am just not going to throw all these discs in any kind of
reasonable time. My loss is your gain.

All discs are first come first serve. I will not be lugging these back
and forth with me on Sundays, so if you're interested in something let
me know and I can bring it for you. I also have these listed on the
interwebs, so list is subject to change at anytime.

I am willing to do trades, but I'm really only interested in Wizards,
heavy beat Rocs or Discmania Power Drivers.

Happy shopping!
-Brad

Condition scale is as follows. All discs not listed as a 10 should be
assumed to have my email/contact info on them.
10 - Never thrown, no ink, brand new condition
9 - Field tested or used for one or two rounds
8 - Lightly used with very minimal wear
7 - Used with some minor dings or scuffs but still in good shape
6 - Typical used disc with the usual dings, scratches but still worthy
5 - Kinda beat, significant wear, has lost a good bit of it's stability
4 - Beat up turnover disc with some evident war story wear
3 or under- Beat to Hades dog chew toy

We had two teams represented at the Rockburn Riot. Round one was
favorite shot, round two was 9 holes of tough shot ad 9 holes of
alternate shot. Fred Hickman and Wayne Trump put up a 55 and a 79. Solid
play in a tough format for neither of them having never played the
course before. Russ and I got off to a hot start, putting up a division
leading 48 in round one. round two was a tense one, and we struggled at
times. Unable to card any birdies round two, we fell to a tie for fourth
with a 66. Great tourney, fun times. Look for a doubles event happening
at WF in the future.

Sunday saw a slim crowd out to enjoy the beautiful weather.

From the desk of Nick K:

Cory 12 62 12
Codey 14 65 14
Nick 21 89 21
John 22 89 22

Birdies: Corey 14 15
           Cody 3 6 14

I will be placing a disc order very soon. If you want anything specific,
now is the time to speak up. I ca also get DGA Machlite portable baskets
cheaper than anywhere else if you're looking for a practice basket for
the winter.

I have some interest in shirts. If you haven't contacted me and you're
interested, please contact me soon.

This Sunday we tee off at 1:15! Don't be late or you'll be playing with
yourself...
See ya on the course!
