Special 2-for-1 edition this week. I was too busy nursing my bruised
ego after last week to write a report.
Boulder Bash VI was two Saturdays ago, and it was a good tourney, as is
expected from the Llamas. Paul and crew always put on a good show, and
if you missed it, you missed out. Russ, Dave and both courses pounded
me into submission. I couldn't get anything going, starting out +3
after 3 holes.
Results
can be seen here. Russ played excellent, shooting well above his
rating for both rounds. I'd like you to just take note of where he
would have finished in Advanced... That's all I'm gonna say about that.
Dave also played very well, having never played either course before.
Very solid for first rounds. Nick managed to make it back from Kansas
City in time to join in on the fun as well, and was able to get the
full Quaker's Challenge experience.
I managed to talk Russ in to coming out on Sunday, despite the
impending rain, just so I could redeem myself. Mission failed. No
highlights whatsoever. We did manage to stay ahead of the rain for the
entire round. That is until hole 17, when it seemed as though Noah may
come floating by at any minute. Being the smart guy that he is, Russ
snuck a driver under his shirt as soon as it started raining. As such,
he was able to safely put his drive on 18B in the middle of the
fairway, about 180ft out. I, however, am not a smart guy. As such, I
was unable to put my drive out in the fairway. I put my drive even with
18A pad. Then my second shot straight at the practice basket. And my
upshot OB. Pick up a circle 5 to Russ' 3, and he beats me by 1. Most
excellent showing by yours truly...

This past Saturday, Dave and I ventured down to Marriottsville for the
Patapsco Punisher. For this event we played the longest and second
longest layouts at the course. Total length for round one was 9236 ft.
Round two was the shorter layout at 7891 ft. WF long to long is
7919 ft. Brutally tough course, and to add to the challenge we had
30+mph winds all day. Lots of fun. I
beat Dave, but he was just about the only one. Tough local crowd at
MD events, you definitely have to bring your A game. I haven't seen
mine in months...
Sunday was a beautiful day to be outside, so all of you that weren't at
the course, I hope you weren't inside either! Tyson, Nick and I
ventured out among the dog walkers, trail joggers and horseback riders
to see what we could do. There were quite a few nice shots scattered
amongst the stray kicks and bad rolls. I managed to turn a par putt
into a double bogey on 3B with the roll of doom. Nick managed the best
score on 9B with a bogey. Nick again had a great hole on 13B, canning a
35 footer through some trees for the birdie 3. I got the birdie on 15B,
and Tyson managed the lone par on 18B.

Next Sunday I will not be out, as I imagine most of you won't either.
Go to Church, and don't eat too much chocolate.
Guess what? I have a prototype for this years tags, and it is sweet! We
are doing things a little different this year and having someone make
them. Since he needs paid before he'll make them, I need paid before
you can get a tag. If you don't know how tags work, let me know and
I'll explain. Once we have money in hand for roughly 20 tags we'll
order them. Once I get them in, we schedule an initial tag match, and
those that show up and play will be awarded the lowest tags. Anyone
that can not make the initial round will be issued a tag based upon
order of payment. Clear as mud? Tags will be $15.
In conjunction with tags this year, we are also going to be running a
points series, based upon the Johnston Points System that was discussed
last year. At the end of the season we will again have a Finale round
and cookout, and we will be awarding prizes to top points earners/tag
holders. Details for the points/league system are still being ironed
out, but we'll have it set once we have the tags.
So you can either pony up the cash next time you see me, or if it's
more convenient you can Paypal me: bclescalleet@...
See you on the 19th!
