Hi All

SEUOOR were held in topical  Chichester this weekend, and here are the results (with average spirit scores in brackets).

Qualifying for Div I nationals:

1st Place – LSE (6)
2nd – Sublime 1 (8)
3rd – Mohawks 1 (12.1)

Qualifying for Div II Nationals:

4th Chichester 1 (10.8)
5th Brunel (12.25)
6th Disc Doctors 1 (10.8)

And then, in order:

7. Thrown 1 (10.5)
8. Surrey 1 (9.6)
9. UCL 1 (12.5)

10. HU 1 (11.2)

11. Kent 1 (12)

12. Sublime 2 (9.3)

13. UCL 2 (6.5) (Plate winners)

14. Essex (11.2)

15. Chichester 2 (11.5)

16. Thrown 2 (12.5)

17. Disc Doctors 2 (13)

18. Surrey 2 (11.5)

19. Kent 2 (14.25) (Spirit winners)

20. Mohawks 2 (9.6)

21. Reading (13.5)

22. HU Cares 12.1)

Thanks to everyone involved. Particular mentions go to Pugh for sorting out all the scheduling issues, and DD2 and Surrey 2 for insisting they go out and play the final match for 17th place in spite of the snow and freezing conditions (DD2 won the game but ‘Ultimate was the real winner!!).

Matt

PS. A comment on the spirit scores. It is a more time-consuming system for the tournament organisers to run (i.e. collating a large amount of spirit sheets) but I think it’s worth the effort to do this, and it gives a truer indication of how spirited each team is perceived to be.

A further issue is that it seems possibly easier for teams lower down in a tournament to get higher spirit scores, maybe as there are less contentious issues to deal with in a games at the lower end. Maybe that is something to be considered when this spirit system is being developed (with this in mind, a special mention should be made to Brunel and Mohawks 1 who had particularly high spirit scores whilst playing in the top 6 bracket for most of the weekend).
