Just to clarify, I was refering to teams whose cheques I haven't received yet in my 'analogy'

Just a quick note to the South East Uni Teams regarding cheques/money for Indoor Regionals.
The post has been awful, there's no getting around that but it doesn't matter if you haven't talked to me about entering or if you have, it is entirely dependent on when I receive your cheques as to whether your teams get in.
Unfortunately, this is dependent on the post. As we know it has been very poor recently but it is improving. If you think I should have received your cheque already and haven't, I would advise you to resend your cheques. If this causes hassle with your uni, I would advise you to sort out getting a personal cheque sent from one of your players if only to try and confirm your place.
Doing it by bank transfer is a little dodgy as it can take up to 4 working days for money to get into the recipients account (in my experience). This is obviously longer than 1st class post.
The only way I can think of allocating teams fairly now is to try and equal up entries a little. The only analogy I can think of is if 3 Unis want to enter 3 teams each, instead of one team only getting their firsts in and 2 Unis get all 3, all three Unis only entered 2 teams. Actually, that's not an analogy I don't think. Would teams whose cheques I haven't received yet be happier with that? e-mail me off group if you have strong feelings on this (ie on the committee of those teams). I think it would make the tournament more competitive if we went in this direction but the decision and repurcussions only affect the teams whose cheques I'm yet to receive so I would like thier input.
We have 3 new Universities entering the tournament this year and so some teams will have to bite the bullet and not get all their requested teams in from this point on, The sport is growing and next year we may need to look at more hall time to combat this to try and ensure all teams who want to enter, can.
Have a good one
