London Mens Skills Day
Saturday 4th March 2006
Participant Information Sheet
Welcome to the London Mens Skills day.
Please meet on Clapham Common on the triangular area near Clapham South tube.
http://www.streetmap.co.uk/newmap.srf?x=528500&y=174500&z=1&sv=528500,174500&st=\
4&mapp=newmap.srf&searchp=newsearch.srf&ax=528500&ay=174500
If you are driving it should be possible to park just off main roads
in the area including on
Nightingale Walk (next to meeting point) and Windmill Drive.
Please be there and be booted up and ready go at 10:00. After 10:00 we
will be doing introductions
followed by splitting into groups and warming up.
The skills day will be station based. The participants will be split
up into groups which will
visit each station. Before we split up into final groups we will split
the participants into
beginners and intermediates. In general if you have played for 1 to 2
years join the beginners,
otherwise intermediates. Don't worry too much about this though, we
will be looking to have evenly
split groups anyway and you will do all the stations.
We will then split into the same number of groups as the stations and
each group will be allocated
1 or 2 group leaders who will stay with them all day. These
experienced players will be available
for any tips or advice at any time and will be helping provide
one-on-one coaching during the
stations. The stations may not be not all be in the same part of the
Common so check with your
group leader to know where you should be. The stations will last about
35 mins running in 45 min
time slots.
Although there will probably be a short lunch break and short breaks
between stations, we would
recommend that you bring food in advance. Iceni may also be around
during the day selling
excellent food and drinks. We expect that two of the stations will be
classroom only and
these will also give you a chance to eat and digest some food. If you
want to buy food beforehand
there is a Sainsbury's and a Tescos very near to Clapham South tube.
Also make sure you bring water proof and warm clothes and maybe an
umbrella too incase it rains
while you are doing the classroom stations.
We expect to be finished by 15:00 after which time there will be a GPM
station hosted by the
legendary Catch22 to be held in a local pub.
So remember:
Booted up and ready to go at 10:00
Bring waterproofs, warm clothes and a brolly
Bring plenty of water
Either bring plenty of food in advance or buy from Iceni
See you there
Lars (07917 062247)
