For Irene and others interested, this is what Jolief is planning (at this time):
Plan to charge the standard $5 person fee i am not sure exactly whats on the
menu but I am currently thinking German. Potatoes of some sort, a roast with
gravy, a salad, and something vegetarian and bread. thats a good start, but no
telling what other goodies I will want to have. we will have something for
desert but not suree what yet.

Messieurs-dames,
You know, it's not the rampant racisim that bothers me. It's the ignorance of

This weekend I traveled to a scheduled event that promised a light weapons
tourney. The tourney was cancelled because the marshal scheduled to run the
tourney was unable to attend the event and cancelled 3 days prior. This was no
fault of the marshal in question.
Even so, I was particularly disappointed, as I attended the event specifically
to enjoy the light tourney.
I would suggest that if any marshal scheduled to run an event must cancel, it
would be a good idea to place a notice in the serapier group posting. This may
notify other Marshals of the problem and possibly secure a substitute for that
event. This would keep the hosting group from looking disorganized and keep the
rapier fighters assured that if they attend an event, they will not be
dissatisfied.
I hope to take the marshal's test soon. I encourage all to become a marshal.
That way we may not "get all dressed up for nothing".

Greetings All,
Ohmigosh!!!! Only 33 days 'til Gulf War.
Once again this year, there will be a pre-GW regional rapier practice at First
United Methodist Church in Lebanon, TN. It will be held on Saturday, February
22; we'll get started about 9 a.m. and finish around 5-ish. Most of you are
already familiar with the location, etc., so write me privately for directions,
whatever.
Lunch will be available on-site for $5. Although there is no charge for the
practice, I do plan to "pass the hat" for contributions to help the church
defray the costs of using the gym. Last practice some of you said "Oops, I'm
short on cash. I'll chip in next time". Well, its next time.......

We have just prepared for return an entire shipment of Schlagers to WKC.
They are ill-tempered, poorly made, wavey; with chips, nicks and sharp
edges. We can not/will not sell these to our customers. We have a small
handful of WKC blades remaining from previous shipments which look fine.
We will honor returns of WKC blades purchased from us.
We are developing a fine relationship with another forge, the same
people who make the TCA rapier blade, and will be increasing production
from that source to ensure a supply of quality schlager blades.

Now that I got a Safe Flex #2 dagger blade in today to compare it to
my old 'Safe Flex #1', there is a world of difference. For one, it is
almost twice as wide as the #1 (or about as wide at the bottom of the
blade as 2.5 schlaggers). Very nice, reminds me alot of the medieval
push daggers the way it slopes out to point. I also got one of the
practical rapiers with the 37" Hanwai (really about like a 35") and I
am quite pleased. The balance seems very nice, and the price is right
as well.

So what stretching do most folks use to increase or maintain flexibility?
In the fall I began to do daily stretches as well as stretching before I
fence or run. I think it has made a big difference in my range of motion.

Yves;
Welcome back!
You're right-Gloucosamine is good stuff! My shoulders were creaking more
then an old floor, and I couldn't lift my arms up above my head.
Arthritis is the pits to deal with, but with the pills and some judicious
exercise, I can do most normal things, again.
The key is to keep things moderate, and work on building up muscles.
Good luck!
Roz

Subject: [serapier] good news for some? (personal)
Not long ago, I figured the main reasons for my going to Rapier
Academy this year would be to escort my lady there and to sell all my
rapier gear.
Why? Waking up every day for weeks with back pain and SEEING one's
lower spine (lumbar) a few degrees out of line ain't fun.
However, I went to fencing practice yesterday - and fenced - and did
fairly well for not having practiced in six months! I did have a
little minor back pain this morning, but I don't think it was all
from fencing. Gotta tell ya, glucosamine chondroitin is wunnerful
stuff. It takes a while, but it's worth it.
Stay tuned for the new release of my Web site. I hope to finish
testing later this week. There's a little bit new in the rapier area,
but the majority of changes are cosmetic and in other areas.
