Recap: Voting is now underway at http://www.wtatour.com/ to decide
which of sixteen nominated women's tennis matches will be declared
the greatest ever (there will be two separate winners - fans and
media).
Eight matches have advanced to the second round of voting, which
involves four matches a week for two weeks. This is the second week,
and each voter must choose one of the following:
1981 US OPEN FINAL
Austin d. Navrátilová 16 76(4) 76(1)
1985 ROLAND GARROS FINAL
Evert d. Navrátilová 63 67(4) 75
1991 US OPEN SEMI-FINAL
Seles d. Capriati 63 36 76(3)
2003 US OPEN SEMI-FINAL
Henin-Hardenne d. Capriati 46 75 76(4)
Two of these matches will advance to the third and final round of
voting next week, to join the two winners of last week's voting. The
1992 French Open final (Monica d. Graf) has advanced to the final
round, but unfortunately so has that appalling 1999 French Open
final, rather than the 1990 VS Championships final (Monica d.
Sabatini) as we hoped. :-||
Please note: it's one vote PER EMAIL-ADDRESS, and the email-addresses
aren't even verified!
