Today (29th July) is the eighth anniversary of Monica's triumphant
return to tennis after the Stabbing, when she defeated Martina
Navrátilová 6-3 6-2 in an exhibition-match in Atlantic City!
Selesians should observe Seleaster by watching this match on video,
if possible.
Many people say that Monica would have gone on to be the greatest
tennis-player of all time, because when she was stabbed she was 19
and had already won eight Grand Slams. But the Selesian view is that
she proved herself the greatest by her glorious comeback in 1995.
She won her first tournament back (the Canadian Open) for the loss of
just 14 games, she morally and almost actually won the US Open, and
she won the Australian Open 1996 to bring her career-total of Grand
Slam titles to nine so far.
I pray that this holy day may inspire Monica to yet another comeback.
In the name of the Father
And of the Daughter
And of the Holy Groundstrokes
Ah-EE!!
