Monica, who hasn't played since the French Open, has now withdrawn
from San Diego (next week) and Los Angeles, as well as from
Stanford. :-(

Monica's next scheduled tournaments are the Canadian Open and the US
Open. With Seleaster just three days away, this brings back memories
of 1995! :-)


Congratulations to Marion Bartoli for taking a set off Jennifer
Capriati in the second round at Stanford. Marion overcame early
nerves to win the second set, outhitting Capriati, but Capriati
finished a 6-2 4-6 6-1 winner.

"I played the second set the right way. In third set I tried to do
too much. You have to play perfectly if you want to win a point."

In the first round, Marion had beaten Laura Granville 6-4 4-6 6-3.


I have added two new photos to the Marion Bartoli album.

Has anyone got any photos of Su-Wei Hsieh? Hers is the only empty
album left (although not all Selesians have albums yet).
