The Stella Artois Championships at Queen's Club, London, start
tomorrow and feature a mouthwatering first-round match between Jan-
Michael Gambill and Thomas Enqvist! For those in the UK, it is likely
to be televised on BBC2 as it is first on Centre Court! :-)
When I say "mouthwatering", I mean purely in tennis-terms although
I'm aware that it will be mouthwatering in other ways for some, as
I've read that Gambill and Enqvist are two of the sexiest men in
tennis! ;-) But as a heterosexual male, I merely appreciate Gambill's
two-handed groundstrokes on both sides, and Enqvist's wonderful
groundstrokes and spreading rallies. It's the nearest you can get to
a Monica v Karina Habsudová match in men's tennis.
Raemon Sluiter, a semi-finalist at Queen's last year, will play
claycourt-specialist Adrian Voinea for the right to play top seed
Lleyton Hewitt in the second round - another intriguing match which
would surely be televised on BBC.
BTW, the last time I worked out my favourite players in men's tennis,
the top three came out as follows:
1. Jan-Michael Gambill
2. Lleyton Hewitt
3. Thomas Enqvist
