Banck: Pierce vs. Bartoli
by Bobby Banck, a former coach on the women's tour, makes his
prediction for today's featured match.
MARY PIERCE VS. - MARION BARTOLI
This match features a rising young star against the former French
Open champion.
Since winning the title in 2000 Pierce has had her share of
difficulties. After suffering numerous injuries Mary is back again,
looking to begin the clay court season in a positive way. She
remains one of the biggest hitters in the game but her fitness is
still a question mark. She will receive a serious test from her
talented 18-year-old country woman.
Bartoli had an impressive showing in the Nasdaq before bowing out to
Serena Williams in the quarterfinals. Her hero growing up has been
Monica Seles, which explains her similar style. This feisty
aggressive teenager will show no fear and will give Pierce all she
can handle.
PREDICTION: Pierce in three sets.
