Monica was looking great, and considerably slimmer than when she
last played professionally. The BBC's French Open commentators said
she looked in great shape physically, and it would be great if she
could make another comeback!


At the Laureus Sports Awards themselves, at Barcelona on 22nd May,
Monica presented the award for World Sportsperson Of The Year With A
Disability, and I recently saw delayed TV-coverage of her doing so!

Monica: "Yet among all these many stars, there's a group of athletes
who have not only reached the top, they have done so against even
greater odds and tougher obstacles than most of us have ever faced.

"And the winner is... Ernst van Dyk." [a wheelchair-athlete]


And I saw the following off-stage interview-clip:

Q: "I know it's [inaudible] you're not in the show so far, but are
you enjoying it?"

Monica: "Oh, definitely. I was very happy I was one of the earlier
presenters, so the nerves got out of the way, so I could go and
enjoy the show."
