A big THANK YOU to Heide, Kim and husband Joe, and Robert (and me) for helping put the dojo back in some semblance of order! In Japanese, that's "gokuroosama deshita"--thank you for working so hard.

We took up the carpet under the heater and in the men's changing room. The only wet residue was on the men's side.  We also peeled back a corner of the mat to check for seepage under the mat.  Under the mat is the plywood sprung floor.  So we drilled a couple of holes through the plywood and found no moisture on the concrete below.  Yea!!!!!  However, we left a fan on and the holes uncovered just to be sure that things are totally dried out under the mat frame in that corner.  The mat can probably be restored in 48 hours?

We are waiting for the plaster to dry (can some of the smell be coming from damp plaster?) and for the landlord to bring in plasterers for estimates.  After the plaster is redone, we'll deal with replacing the carpet.  The old mat cover is sitting by the exposed corner, waiting to serve as a cover so workpeople can come and go freely.

The desk is still in the women's changing room, but the attendance list and dues box are at the front of the dojo, near or inside the cabinet which we placed there.  Let's put mail and important stuff there for now.

We need:
1.  Someone with a truck to haul the old carpet and pad to the dump.  The sooner the better; right now the stuff is in the alley, but it's not covered.   I can help with the labor if necessary, and the expenses will be reimbursed.

2.  If you have anything that would be suitable for covering the floor (Men's side and under the heater) until we're able to replace the carpet, I'm sure bare feet would appreciate it.

That's all I can think of.  As always, your suggestions, words of experience, etc are appreciated.  Meanwhile, keep on training!

Christy
