Hi Jim, for U10 there are at least three games to play Sunday. So
if 32 SV players turn out then everyone should get to play at least one game.
-
Game 3 - SV Black – play with 8 kids
-
Game 4 – SV White – play with 8 kids
-
Game 6 – SV White – play with second 8 kids
-
Game 6 – SV Black – play with second 8 kids
With less kids then more games/kid, and of course if we win
there will be more games to play.
HTH
Steve

The pain is not
the not just the registration, its the 8 man format and the recent adds.
We have played 10+ all season. With 8 players per side, adding in San
Jose and the other recent adds, we have more enough players for four u10
teams. Seems like to way to much bench time for the players. If everyone
shows up, that's more than 50% on the bench.
Kids hate being
spectators. Specially after driving a third of the way to Tahoe. If we do play,
its not fair to add the new players.
Thank You,
Jim Quigley

Hi Chris,
I think we're all a little put out by these last minute restrictions. But I
hope we can get all the teams together for Sunday. If everyone hasn't been able
to register, then we'll need to see if the organizers will go ahead and let the
kids play anyway, or try to rejig their schedules at the last minute. My guess
is that there will be a consensus for playing.

Bob said we were CIPP as a club not individuals. This is a much better way of
doing it. CIPP is a way of enriching the USARFU. This is supposed to be an
enjoyable end of the season tournament not a rigid exercise in bureaucracy. If
we are CIPP as a club then surely a list of players will suffice.
I would understand requiring CIPP for all players if a competition lead to a
regional, state or national championship. This isn't. It's a loosely
organized, end-of-the-season youth tournament which is supposed to be fun. The
people that are "organizing" this event have decided to dictate the
size of competing teams to accommodate they're own clubs. We've been playing
10-a-side all season and now we're forced to play 8-a-side rugby. The Seahawk
U-10's has more than 30 players. Now, out of the blue, they're thrown this
individual CIPP thing on us for nothing more than an end of season competition
which leads to nothing.
As many of you are aware, I am affiliated official with the Northern California
Referee Society and I asked NCRFU Referee President, Dr. Bruce Carter if any
referees had been allocated to this event. He didn't even know anything about
it.
At this stage I can not guarantee if any of the 16 Seahawk players from
Lexington Elementary will be turning up to this shambles of an event if the
"organizers" continue to make unreasonable demands so close to the
actual event. It's an hour plus drive both ways to play from 10:00 a.m. to noon.
I will send an individual email to my group see what they want to do.
Having ranted on long enough, I would like to congratulate the efforts of Norm,
Bob, Dick, Steve and others from our club for doing a good job keeping us in
tact all season. The same can't be said for the idiots that are ruining this
disorganized end of season event.

(Sorry for any duplication; I am having email
issues)
Silicon Valley parents:
For the tournament this weekend every player needs proof of CIPP registration
and potentially proof of age. All players participating in USA Rugby
events need CIPP registration for insurance purposes. Attached are
instructions on how to CIPP your player. Please make sure the players are
CIPPed and that you bring the CIPP number (print it out). It will be
checked!
Additionally, any player at the tournament can be challenged for proof of age
if the opposing coach has any doubts. If you think the player might be
above the normal size range, please bring a birth certificate.
If you have any questions, problems feel free to email me at norm@...
Norm
Forwarding this on behalf of Norm. It doesn't seem possible to attach the
instructions to mail sent to the yahoogroup. The document is CIPPInstructions.pdf
