So the Seahawks are getting pretty good at this whole football thing.
its a great time for a team to put together its best football for the
stretch run.
Uh, what stretch run? this team has been out of it since October when
it was 1-5. The record now stands prowdly at 6-9 with a game to go.
For those keeping score, that is a 5-4 record since week 6 or whenever
we were 1-5.
Hmmm....six games, good time to gel. Now, if we had everybody back,
with some help in the defense, this team could be scary next season.
One problem, Mike Holmgren is GM. Not only will he NOT get us the
players needed, but he will also ship off somebody that was good (Sam
Adams) or someone about to be good (Ahman Green). So, next year's
squad will go 1-5, then play outstanding but again miss the playoffs.
That is, unless, fate steps in and Seahawk fans get their one holiday
wish.
Holmgren stepping down from being the GM! Give me players, I will
coach them, I will bring Seattle a Super Bowl! says Holmgren.
All of a sudden its beginning to look like hell will freeze over and a
Seattle team will win a championship! (70s era Sonics don't count).
Alright! the players dance on the water front as championship banners
fly from the cranes of puget sound. The town is Seahawk crazy!
Suddenly I wake up and realize, its just a dream. Holmgren won't step
down as GM. Its too power hungry. Suddenly, next year we're once
again talking about the Mariners in December. The early part is, will
we ever beat the Yanks (this year, honest!) the last part is, think
we'll beat the Yanks next year (hopefully). Everynow and then, talk
at the water cooler is, can you believe it, its another year at 7-9 or
8-8.
This city loves football, give its ultimate reward! A championship.
You did it once Mike, do it again, this time go all the way. We'll
supply the home field advantage, go get it next year.
while your at it, you might want to shorten the plaque on your desk.
