Update on Women's Collegiate Rep search

Good day all,

For those of you that do not know I was the UCSB volunteer who was to attend the meeting on Sunday, but due to a family emergency I was unable to make it.

I am currently the forwards coach for the UCSB Women's Rugby team, having joined them last season. Prior to that I coached with a team in Los Angeles (Eagle Rock 01/02 season). The vast majority of my playing and coaching experience has been in South Africa, where for several years I coached High School rugby (u/15 boys to be precise).

I am very committed to Women's Rugby in SoCa, to Womens Rugby in the USA in general and believe that USA Womens Rugby needs to take the lead in Women's Rugby World Wide. The way to do that is to have our Collegiate level rugby be second to none, which serves as the foundation for World Class Rugby we need to play.

To achieve this we need to be professional at every level, from discipline at individual practices and matches,  to demanding that we be given equal treatment with all levels of Men's Collegiate Rugby, to not being satisfied with sub-standard refereeing. I believe that Women's Collegiate Rugby in SoCal has long been looked down upon by the other Rugby playing regions in the USA and that is not acceptable. I look forward to the day that the majority of the U/23 Women' s Eagles Team are SoCal based, as I believe we have the athletic talent, coaching staff at the Collegiate level and the will to achieve that.

So in me you find a commited advocate at the SCRFU level for Women's Collegiate Rugby, who will not accept 2nd best or allow us to considered as some afterthought.

Regards

Any news from our volunteer from UC Santa Barbara to step into the EC rep position?
Also on the table to volunteer for the position are Kate Nichols and myself.

Please let us all know what is going on with Santa Barbara, as I would love to see this position decided upon no later than Friday.

Thank you,

I have responded to this as you are aware. I'd like to point out that perhaps it wouldn't too politically correct to have quite all the power of votes/voting...
