The coaching staff is extrememly proud to report on ITT's (NASC's). See
Trie's report below. As an additional smile, I would also like to note that
we returned from a very intense week with no major injuries. Thank you for
your support of the U23 program...may we continue to grow together and
improve our territory.

>Hello SCRFU.
>
>As most of you may have seen already, your Under-23 rugby sisters traveled
>to Blaine, Minnesota this past weekend. Players arrived on Tuesday night
>and began training on Wednesday morning. Wednesday evening, the Griffins
>were joined by two former SoCal folks, Janet Flamming and Jenny Menke, for
>a practice in Minneapolis.
>
>The Griffins followed these training sessions with a Thursday morning
>scrimmage against the #1 Midwest territorial side. After a 40 minute
>"light"
>scrimmage we ended losing by just over a try.
>
>Friday morning the Griffins hit the ground running against the Teir 2
>champs,
>MARFU. MARFU had the upper hand due to experience and capitalized on
>penalties to create a loss of 35-10 for us.
>
>Saturday the players got to relax a bit and roam the mighty halls of the
>Mall of
>America. A much needed break from the heavy training these athletes had
>endured over the week.
>
>Come Sunday morning the players were ready to roll against the USA U19
>women. Unfortunately, experience once again took it's toll, as we suffered
>a
>last minute break down and the U19 capitalized on a break in the defense.
>The end score was 15-10.
>
>Overall, the true victory came via e-mail Monday night when 7 SoCal U23
>Griffin women were selected for the USA Camp and Traveling Team. Never
>in the history of this U23 program have that many women been chosen for the
>USA events. I would dare to add that number has never been reached for So
>Cal women at all age levels. SoCal left a very strong impression on the
>US
>selectors as well as the territorial coaches as a whole. Over and over, I
>was
>told how impressed they were with our play and, moreover, with our
>professionalism.
>
>If you get a chance, let these women know how proud you are of them. They
>represented all of us in SoCal very, very well.
>
>Congrats to all 20 of them!
>
>On a side note, I would like to announce that I will be leaving SoCal this
>fall to
>attend graduate school at St. Cloud State University in Minnesota. I am
>very
>proud of how far this U23 program has come over the last four years. More
>importantly I want to thank all of these U23 women who have pushed me
>above and beyond my coaching level and expected more out of me than I
>thought I could do. Thank you, Griffins! Promise made is a promise kept!
>
>Thank you for your support through the years SCRFU. Best of luck to
>everyone these upcoming seasons. I'll see you on the pitch.
>
>Yours in Rugby,
