Some of you have met my former A&M player Carol, who now Coaches at Cornell. This is REALLY sad, but I think keeping our athletic selves fit and healthy vs being "thin" is an issue for women athletes, so I am forwarding it. Not saying diet is the only issue here, but worth thinking about. Please feel free to forward it to your respective teams.

Two days ago I received a phone call that my roomate had collapsed while
jogging and had been taken to the hospital. Her heart had stopped. That
night I also found out that she had been on a low carb diet, which did not
seem odd to her boyfriend despite her being tiny to begin with. I wish I
had known, I wish she had not been so concerned with fitting into the
hollywood image. She has not waken up. Last night she was airlifted to a
larger hospital so they could hook her up to an EEG machine. This means
that the hospital has stopped focusing on her heart and is now focusing on
trying to find signs of life in her brain. Please think hard about what you
are risking before going on a diet.
