Subject: Letter and Roster for USA v CAN at 2006 Women's All-Star Event

TU Coaches - please note the following letter and attachment from Kathy Flores concerning the recently announced events for the USA Rugby WNT.

 Dear TU Coaches

First I want to thank you all for supporting our Eagles in the USA v Canada  international matches at the 2006 Women's All-Star National Championship.
Normally, we would not want to have an international at this time period so as not to conflict with TU elite level contest.  However, we do not have an international schedule that is governed and administered by the IRB so each country must search for their own competition.  Being a World Cup year the WNT is looking for every opportunity for competition and Canada has presented a request for 2 matches on the date of the NASC, thus the late announcement of these matches.   We cannot afford to turn down this opportunity and ask the TU's to support our team's lead into the World Cup.  Though we did not discuss having an international at the NASC's, we did discuss having our squad play as the 8th team in the Senior pool so the same athletes may not have been available to you...this year due to World Cup.

Though I know some may believe it is not ideal for your territories to be without your elite players, I think it will give the next level of players the opportunity they might not have if the territories were to have your Eagles.  At the national level, we depend on the territories for player development and the opportunity for strong club players to have the opportunity to work with other players of the same calibre - hopefully increasing their skill level and decision making by the time they may get chosen for the National squad.  They have much more opportunity to develop at the territorial level than they have at our level. All this is to say I believe this opportunity will end up being in the best interest of ALL players and territories.

I am sending you the list of players that have been able to commit to the week long time frame we have asked for at the event so that you are able to plan accordingly with your squads..  Along with it will be the squad that went to Great Britian in January - this is so you know that there may be a few players that have not been able to commit to us right now, but are on our list and are working on being available.

Again, thank you for your support in our quest to regain our World status.

Regards
Kathy
