When determining what position to list a player at, scoresheet most
importantly considers the position they played the most at in the
majors the previous year, and also where they are most likely to play
in the majors next season (using the most current news as of
mid-January, when the player lists are finalized.) Sandoval did play
the most games at 1B, and if (as seems likely) the giants are saying
in January that they anticipate him playing 1B for them in 2009 then
he would be listed as a first basemen on the 2009 player lists, and
would not qualify at either C or 3B going into the 2009 season.
>He played 17 games at 1B, 12 at 3B, 11 at C.
