Hello cyclists!
We have 8 rides for the second weekend of the new year. All the details are
below.
The Swancott Time Trial will be held rain or shine, but not if we have
thunder/lightning
type nasty stuff.
Please remember that ride leaders may cancel in the event of inclement weather.
Get out and ride!

==> TIME TRIAL DETAILS
WHAT: Swancott Time Trial - Monthly Series
WHEN: Saturday, November 11 at 2pm
WHERE: Corner of Swancott and County Line Road
CONTACTS: amelia.baldwin@... and gretchen.everts@...
WHO: We are encouraging all riders of all levels to participate to measure their
progress. We especially encourage all the moderate riders to join us. This is
not a
race for prizes, just personal goals.
|---The Details---|
On November 11, we will start a (potentially) monthly time trial. It will start
from
the corner of Swancott and County Line Road (Swancott Grocery and Deli)
beginning at
2pm.
Come out and pit yourself against the clock. Our plan is to repeat the time
trial each
month (at least until Spring) so you can measure your progress over time. This
is not a
race against other cyclists. No award will be given to the fastest finishers.
This is
a race against the clock to measure personal fitness. All cyclists are welcome
and
encouraged to participate.
COURSE: The course is 9 miles and includes Swancott, Rockhouse Rd, Henderson Rd
and Wall
Street. It is mostly well-paved and traffic is very light. Please take note of
the
left turn onto Rockhouse and take particular care there. The course will be
clearly
marked for the time trial series and a map will be available if necessary. Here
is a
preview: http://www.bikely.com/maps/bike-path/Swancott-9-mile-Time-Trial
LOCATION: Mr Bibb, of the Swancott Grocery and Deli, has graciously agreed to
let us use
his store as our starting point. Please try not to block access to the store
when
parking. Please do not park on Swancott west of County Line (so as not to block
the
view of cyclists on the course). Most folks will want to plan to park away from
the
start and do a warm up ride to the starting area.
Show up at the store by about 1:45 to sign up. Cyclists will start in the order
they
sign up. We will have a normal time trial start, with a cyclist starting every
minute
until all are out on the course. Timing will be provided. Results available
shortly
after the last rider finishes. Results will be tabulated over the series so you
can
track your progress. Results will be emailed to participants.
WEATHER: The time trial will be cancelled only if the weather is REALLY bad.
SAFETY: Safety is primary, and safety should never be sacrificed for seconds.
Everyone
will wear a helmet. All cyclists will observe all traffic rules. We have a
good
reputation in this neighborhood and we want to keep it that way. :o)
VOLUNTEERS: Don’t want to ride but want to help? We could use a couple of
course
marshalls and someone to help with standing starts. These are easy jobs! Email
us if
you want to help.
