This Saturday is the 58-mile
Coldwater-Delina ride. It starts
at the intersection of Old Railroad Bed Road and Highway 110 in Taft, TN. Plan ahead. It is a solid 30-minute drive from Huntsville. This is one of my favorite places to
ride because of the scenery and terrain.
Ride starts around 8 AM and involves about eleventy-dozen
hills and one rest stop in Delina at 28 miles. The temps will be completely torrid so
the pace will be several notches above “lollygagging” so we can get
home to the AC to watch tour coverage.
The average speed will probably fall below 17 MPH because of the
numerous hills and my generally poor condition.
Mike Olheiser World Championship
Fundraiser:
Huntsville’s own (via Minneapolis) Mike O. is headed to Austria
in August to represent the good ol’ U.S. of A.
at the Master’s World Championships. He needs our support to help cover travel
and lodging expenses for the trip. Since Coldwater is one of his favorite
training areas, it is a good place to pass the hat before and after the ride
for donations. So, if you do our
ride, think about bringing a few extra bucks to help make sure our transplanted
homeboy gets a ticket to The World Championships.
We’ll see ya’ll on Saturday Morning.
