Is your car the old comptech car? do you run a smaller engine to run
in gt-5? If it is the old comptech car I have some nice pictures from
the alanta runoffs when peterson was driving it. I wil try and post
them.

Barry,
Dad's oil pump would not scavenge properly filling the motor full of
oil. We decided to at least start and watch the gauges closely. He
made 5 laps. A DNF but at least a start. Interestingly at idle the
pump was able to scavenge the oil out and back to the tank. We have
new impellers on the way.

Bought from Mini Mania back in March, 2002 and have since
sold the Mini project it was supposed to go into on ebay.
It's one of their REBUILDABLE units NOT a ready-to-run deal.
I paid over $600 for it with shipping.
They're on Minimania.com right now for $555 PLUS shipping
(around $200).
I want $475 for mine.
It is no longer on the pallet AND the valve cover is included.
I am thinking it's something like a 1982 unit?
If you have ANY questions or would like to pass this along to
someone else, feel free to do so and please don't hesitate to
e-mail with any questions.
I am located in the Imperial, MO area.
VERY easy to find and I'm VERY easy to deal with. :)
Forgot to mention.....
I have it on www.ebaymotors.com as well.
Item No. 1876174584
I have a $440 "Buy It Now" on there.
All the best to you and yours!

sound control from drivers right to drivers left at summit point.
about 125 ft. down track. this will also make the microphone closer
to the cars because you will now be on same side of the track. they
don't think this will cause any problems but thought all n.e. drivers
should know. see you at the point. jim
I have numerous original 998 and 1275 blocks for the "real" Mini, two

I found and joined the group just a few days ago, and am looking foward to
participating...and learning...from all of you. For those of you who don't
know me, I have written Runoffs coverage (and Who Will Wins) about GT4 for
quite a while and about GT5 at the Runoffs off and on for several years and
hope to continue doing it for SPORTS CAR for a while longer. I also cover
F, G, and H Prod for SPORTS CAR.
The biggest challenge is predicting Who Will Win at the Runoffs, an article
that has to be written in June! So, please feel free to keep me posted on
your exploits, if you believe you could be the 2003 Champ, or your
observations of other worthy drivers.
You can contact me at mhemsley4@... or by mail at 1540 Northgate Sq.

Dan,
Depending on where you're located, Peter's sedan may be closer, I also
have a '71 2 door 1200 sedan bought as a parts car. It's pretty dented,
all fixable, no engine, transmission, or interior but it's otherwise
complete. All the glass is good but the floor boards are rusted in the
usual places. I was toying with the idea of making it into a budget HP
car but the GT5 car I bought from Peter will keep me busy for quite some
time. I have the title for the car and lots of stock spare parts
including a good A14. $50 and you can haul it away. I'm in New Mexico
just East of Albuquerque.

1650 is the minimum weight post-race with driver.
Of course no Mini driver will give you a hp number for HIS engines,
but 145 is a reasonable assumption for a reliable motor.

Peter, I got a "cannot be found" error with that URL; try
http://www.protintinc.com = I think that's the one - they mention
race car tear offs on their site.

Thankyou John for the info.
Does the 1650 Lb. figure include the driver and weighed post race?
And does anyone else out there know the approximate HP figure for a
GT-5 Mini?
Thanks again,
Jon
While at the PRI show last month I talked to the nice folks at Pro-
Tint. See www.protint.com. They sell 3M protective films that are
applied as tear-offs to your windshield. They said that applied to
regular Lexan, their products will make the Lexan last the life of
the race car.
As I was told, Lexan is porous, so apply the first layer and never
remove it. Make the 2nd, 3rd, etc layers as the tear-offs. They said
their films will stand up to windshield wipers and will bead away
water.
They also make an anti-fog film for the inside.
Their products can be purchased in bulk roll form, so you can cut and
apply your own tear-offs.
My car has a 4 year old Lexan winshield with large rock chips and
lots of sand blasting. I've seen some that after a year you would
want to replace them. Peter
Any parts for sale off the 2 cars I picked up in Alabama last week.
The coupe has some rust in the floors and rockers, so it's not worth
fixing??? It has a good windshield! The sedan is a solid car, but who
wants a sedan? It also has good glass. Peter peterzekert@...
It seems that costs always get out of hand in racing.....as an
interested bystander my two cents would go toward reducing
costs....that usually gets the car count up. A win by one half second
is fun no matter what the speed. Mike in Mississippi

hi Jon, I don't have my rule book here at work with me, someone will
correct me if I get this wrong. My recollection is that Minis weigh
1650lbs with 13" wheels, but can run 100lbs lighter if they keep the
10" wheels.

What does a full tube frame mini weigh in at and how much HP might it
have? I do not have access to a SCCA rulebook and my only racing

Sincerely curious,

Bryan, I'm sure you'll enjoy racing Nationals. I have never met any
GT-4/5 people that aren't friendly, helpful, and just plain fun to be
around. Good luck in 2003, and if you are at any Northeast tracks
be sure to look me up. I probably won't be racing in 2003, but will
be crewing for Randy Canfield, and anyone in GT that needs
assistance.
Chris
I response to Chris's questions re: what would it take
make my 1200 faster and could it go to production.
I need more seat time and more track time to learn how
to set up my car. Given that and a few newer parts I
honestly feel 1:45 at mid-o is in grasp. To go to prod
with my car would be nearly a new car. Brakes, head,
carbs, diff, trans, doors, wheels I think thats it.
that's as the h p rules currently list the 1200. I really
like running in gt5, I think the class is the most open
friendly one at any race period. One of the reasons I
posted was to be sure we all kept sight of the big
picture.. have fun and friendly and other cars will
come out. everyone has encouraged me to run nationals
and that is my plan for 03.

Peter,
I've done a 1:43.9 at Mid-Ohio and Ted Wollesen has been a
shade faster. Both cars are highly modified tubs but retain
original suspension arms.
And... Joe Camilleri's Mini has done 1:43s, maybe high 1:42s (correct

forgetting??
We will (almost) all agree that a tub frame is better, but tub cars
are NOT a write off. Just put together a STRONG ENGINE and a good
driver. In our low horsepower class like GT5, a good engine is MORE
important than a good chassis.
Given equal drivers: A great engine in an average chassis will beat
an average engine in a great chassis any day! Peter
