Fellow name Dick Reynolds ran a tub-based TRD Toyota Starlet in
CenDiv a number of years ago - may be as many as 10 years ago. He
now has it listed for sale on EBay. I believe his health has kept
him from racing for a number of years.
According to his description, the car was a decent contender, way
back then. I've always had a soft spot for Starlets. I know that
Dick Noonan's tube frame Starlet ran really well when he had it, but
Dave Hunstead hasn't seemed to do as well with it, and I believe
it's for sale, also. I also know that Roy Lopshire used to run a
tub based Starlet and brought it to the Runoffs several times, but
never seemed to be in the top ten.
In general, do any of you old-hand GT5'ers have an opinion on just
where the Starlet fits in general? Could Dave's tube frame car be a
contender again? Are the tub-based cars pretty much relegated to
regional status? Does anyone know anything about Reynold's car?
And, as long as I'm showing my ignorance, what is the status of tub
cars in GT5? Are they/will they be outlawed as I've heard, or can
they still be raced in Nationals?
