Hi Everyone,

 

I just wanted to thank everyone who helped to run the Boardwalk Open last weekend.  This includes those who came to set up on Friday night and the volunteers who showed up on Sunday evening to tear down.  Our incredible bout committee staff of Paul and Sarah once again set a very high standard for excellence.  They ran the tournament at such a quick a pace that many fencers were caught off-guard (pun intended).  Bob's help with getting the food and doing on-the-spot armory made sure that the whole team could keep sharp throughout the long grueling days.

 

I want to bring special attention to Paul's work.  Having run several of these events in the past I know what it takes to pull this together but many of you may not.  Some of the responsibilities include tracking down refs, renting the room, arranging for insurance for the event, buying specialized medals for the event, arranging to get all the scoring machines to and from the event, having all the weights and shims needed for testing, and the list goes on.  Paul has been quietly working on this event for months.

 

Of course we should also thank Al for once again sponsoring the tournament with $500 donation.  This has to be at least the 10th year he has been doing this.  Do the math.  All I can say is wow, and thanks again!
