Both spring and regular season schedules are out and the Padres will
open the season at home against the Giants on Monday, March 31st!
Spring training is set too with games nearly everyday in March
including a trip to Yuma and one trip to Tucson. See you in Peoria
and at the Q on Opening Day!!!

suggestions... 1. Go here and sign up for the email newsletter. It's
kind of hit or miss, but it does keep you informed:
https://secure.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/sd/account/sd_account_reg_login.jsp
and here's a ballpark source:
http://sandiego.padres.mlb.com/NASApp/mlb/sd/ballpark/sd_ballpark_project.jsp
I was last down there in early August, for dinner, and it seems every
time I'm down in the area, it looks more and more like a real ballpark.
You have my sympathies, btw, for being in snake country

Well it is finally over. Yet another last place finish for our
Padres in the NL West. Here's to a winning season in 2003, the
Padres last hurrah at the Q. Can't wait for spring training to
begin. I'll see you in Peoria in March!

I didn't get to see it. I'm in Arizona (yeah, I know,
DBack territory...yuck), so I had to catch the game
off the Rockies station, so of course, they didn't
show Tony's induction. :(
What all did they do for him?

I did, was very disappointed with the lack of turn out! Am also going
tonight... and Thursday. Only going to make about 25 games this year,
down from the usual 35 or so. Just can't afford it anymore

I hope some of you made it to the Tony Gwynn Padres HOF Induction
ceremony on Saturday. It was a nice ceremony but unfortunately the
stands were not packed as Tony fully deserved. The outcome of the
game was great with the Pads shutting out the Rockies for the 2nd
straight night. Since they now have won on Sunday as well, we are
set to sweep the Rockies in this 4 game series. If we keep playing
well, we will pass the Rockies in our division and leave them in the
cellar. Let's do this!

Today we celebrate the most recognizable symbol in the entire world - our
nation's flag. Old Glory stands for freedom, hope, equality, and countless
other ideals. What many do not know about the flag is that it stands for so
much more. Each color, stripe and star has deeper meaning beyond what the
eye can see.
White signifies purity and innocence; red, hardiness and valor; and blue
signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice. The star is a symbol of the
heavens and the divine goal to which mankind has aspired from time
immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the
sun.
At a time when our nation has been tested relentlessly and patriotism has
become a way of life, our nation's pastime is facing a crucial turning
point. It seems ironic that the players and owners of Major League
Baseball - with its logo bleeding red, white and blue - cannot reach an
agreement to save the game that has been brought to a halt eight times since
1972. Something needs to change. That is what this is all about.
In an era where a player's potential - not experience - earns him millions
and where corporate suites are more important than bleachers, the only one
who suffers is the true baseball fan. It is time to organize a Baseball Fan
Association. You can help. It starts right here, right now with
MLBFanStrike.com.

Yeah, the play blew it for the Pads, but I don't think they should
send him down to AAA. However, he has been in the majors since last
year (going up and down quite a bit). Regardless of this, he really
isn't a rookie. Would Sean Burroughs have made the same mistake?
Maybe, maybe not. I think the Pads still need a reserve on the bench
(Crespo's not what you would call a "utility man" because of his low
BA) who can switch-hit and play both infield and outfield. So looks
like he may be staying.
From what the U-T says, all the Pads have on the farm, it seems, are
arms! No big bats; Burroughs was probably their only hitter last
season. But that's just what I've read on the U-T.
Brian
PS Going to the ballgame next Friday versus the Mets. Should be fun :)
Somebody has to post in the month of may, I might as well be the
first, bad play on crespo last night blew the game, hope they dont
send him back to AAA cuz of the one error, whats your thought??
have you tried Ebay?

Anyone know where I can buy the black & white Turn ahead the Clock
Padres retro jersey? Or the Mitchell & Ness Jerseys? Thanks, trying
to expand my collection.
umpire was calling strikes about a foot out of the strike zone, bochy
got pissed and said something that nobody knows and got tossed, then
phil nevin just about beat the umpire up, if nobody would have held
him back.

Not only that, he needs a heavy dose of reality. I mean, Boch must've
said something about the guy's mom to get so easily tossed. And,
knowing Boch's reputation, that's impossible. I've seen other
managers (Piniella, anyone?) who've done far worse things and weren't
tossed.

Hi Tasha,
Welcome to the club. Just wondering: when the Pads come to town, do
you go to the games in Pads colors? Is there a big Pads following in
Arizona? (Since the World Series, I'm guessing not as big anymore.)
At least you live closer to San Diego than most; you can probably
plan a road trip and see a game or two here :)
Go Pads!
