Today we celebrate the most recognizable symbol in the entire world - our
nation's flag. Old Glory stands for freedom, hope, equality, and countless
other ideals. What many do not know about the flag is that it stands for so
much more. Each color, stripe and star has deeper meaning beyond what the
eye can see.
White signifies purity and innocence; red, hardiness and valor; and blue
signifies vigilance, perseverance and justice. The star is a symbol of the
heavens and the divine goal to which mankind has aspired from time
immemorial; the stripe is symbolic of the rays of light emanating from the
sun.
At a time when our nation has been tested relentlessly and patriotism has
become a way of life, our nation's pastime is facing a crucial turning
point. It seems ironic that the players and owners of Major League
Baseball - with its logo bleeding red, white and blue - cannot reach an
agreement to save the game that has been brought to a halt eight times since
1972. Something needs to change. That is what this is all about.
In an era where a player's potential - not experience - earns him millions
and where corporate suites are more important than bleachers, the only one
who suffers is the true baseball fan. It is time to organize a Baseball Fan
Association. You can help. It starts right here, right now with
MLBFanStrike.com.

Yeah, the play blew it for the Pads, but I don't think they should
send him down to AAA. However, he has been in the majors since last
year (going up and down quite a bit). Regardless of this, he really
isn't a rookie. Would Sean Burroughs have made the same mistake?
Maybe, maybe not. I think the Pads still need a reserve on the bench
(Crespo's not what you would call a "utility man" because of his low
BA) who can switch-hit and play both infield and outfield. So looks
like he may be staying.
From what the U-T says, all the Pads have on the farm, it seems, are
arms! No big bats; Burroughs was probably their only hitter last
season. But that's just what I've read on the U-T.
Brian
PS Going to the ballgame next Friday versus the Mets. Should be fun :)
Somebody has to post in the month of may, I might as well be the
first, bad play on crespo last night blew the game, hope they dont
send him back to AAA cuz of the one error, whats your thought??
have you tried Ebay?

Padres retro jersey? Or the Mitchell & Ness Jerseys? Thanks, trying

umpire was calling strikes about a foot out of the strike zone, bochy
got pissed and said something that nobody knows and got tossed, then
phil nevin just about beat the umpire up, if nobody would have held
him back.

What happened with the ump and Bruce?

Not only that, he needs a heavy dose of reality. I mean, Boch must've
said something about the guy's mom to get so easily tossed. And,
knowing Boch's reputation, that's impossible. I've seen other
managers (Piniella, anyone?) who've done far worse things and weren't
tossed.

Hi Tasha,
Welcome to the club. Just wondering: when the Pads come to town, do
you go to the games in Pads colors? Is there a big Pads following in
Arizona? (Since the World Series, I'm guessing not as big anymore.)
At least you live closer to San Diego than most; you can probably
plan a road trip and see a game or two here :)
Go Pads!

Hi everyone. I just joined this list and thought I
should introduce myself. I'm Tasha, and like the
subject says, I'm a loyal Padres fan, living in
*cringes* Arizona.
For 16 years, my family and I have been in San Diego,
but moved to Arizona some 2 years ago. Since we moved,
we've been keeping up (or trying to keep up) with
Padres news.
Whenever we can, we watch our beloved Padres on TV,
usually when they play against the D-backs, Cubs,
Dodgers, Rockies, or Braves (we have a satalite that
allows us to pick up those channels)
Of course, since I grew up in San Diego, I miss it
dearly and would love to talk to anyone from there. So
if anyone has AIM, feel free to message me...my sn is
AmbrStrm01 (not on this one that often) and
ShadowKitty18 (more then likely on this sn). Hope to
hear from ya'll soon.
Loyal Padres fan living in Diamondback territory

Get out to a game! They play great hockey, and it is dirt cheap.
Besides they might win their league's championship again.

Hi All-
Padres fan stuck in the L.A. area. Wanted to let you guys know that
the Rancho Cucamonga Quakes gave away a Sean Burroughs bobblehead.
They are very cool, and I put the extra one we got up on Ebay.
http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=1819793620
I am so impressed with Burroughs. I hope he lives up to his promise.
As an aside, are there any Gulls fans in the house?

Hello all. I do not think that it is time to panic. We just faced,
possibly, the two best pitchers in the game. No problem, we have
seven months to figure them out. Just look at it this way, our
playoff magic number is 160.
By the way, here is my question to all of you: Who is the worst
Padre player that you can think of?
For me, it is Champ Summers. For many reasons. Take care all.
sheesh those 2 guys kicked out butts, hopefully we can pull a W out
tonight..

Hey,
Totally agree with you. That guy Matt Vasgersian (sp?) will have to
grow on me too. I'll miss Mel's animated play-calling too. He seemed
to lose his voice half the time.
I just wish Ueck had played for the Pads. Bob Uecker remains my
favorite baseball commentator, but I'm not about to move to Milwaukee
to follow him every Brew Crew game.
I hope the Pads pick it up soon. Where are the runs? But eh, Big Unit
and Schilling? You're bound for a low-scoring game either way.
Brian
The Padres and KJ had a valiant effort against the Big Unit and the
defending champion D-backs. It is great to have baseball season back
and I for one am pumped for the home opener. Anyone got any opinions
on the new TV broadcaster Matt Vasgersian? I'm not to keen on him so
far, but he'll grow on me perhaps. I still like tuning into the Ted
and Jerry show even as I watch the game on TV, but I think I'll miss
Mel Proctor's animated play calling nonetheless.
Happy Holidays,
Jon
