Sorry for the off topic post, but Jeff & Jer and Star 100.7 FM are
sponsoring a fundraiser for the San Diego Chapter of the American Red
Cross to assist San Diego area victims. The event will be held at the
San Diego Sports Arena on 10/31/03 from 5-10 a.m. It will be a "drive
through" operation where you just place money or a check in the bag
and keep going.

Alternatively, you can donate be calling the San Diego Red Cross at
(619) 542-7688 or going to their web site at www.sdarc.org. Please
spread the word.

You're not far off. When Satan himself materialized to do hand-to-hand
combat with Billy, his heavy cloven hooves really seemed to be kicking
up a lot of divots.

You know I think I saw that being advertised on PPV. Wasn't Tyson vs. holyfield
on the undercard?

You're not far off. When Satan himself materialized to do hand-to-hand
combat with Billy, his heavy cloven hooves really seemed to be kicking
up a lot of divots.

I'm simply comparing what a Padres game or the closing ceremonies my
do to the field as compared to an even like the Billy Graham
Crusade. A a crusade, you'd have thousands of people answering an
altar call or counseling those responding to the altar call. I
figured that thousands of people walking around on the grass would
cause more damage then 3 guys in the outfiled chasing fly balls.

The Billy Graham crusade?? How so?

To suggest that the Chargers could, would or did issue any ultimatum
limiting the types of events that could be held at the Padres closing
day or any othe revent held there. And if I owned the Chargers, I'd
be a lot more concerned about how an even like the Billy Graham

Any other half-season founders out there? I imagine we'll be seated
close together (or on opposite sides of the infield).

There will no opening day tickets for general public sale for 2004.
The break down is as follows:

Guaranteed Opening Day Tickets (Limited to number of seats owned):
Founders Club
81-game Holders
40 game Holders

Pre-sale prior to public 20-day game (Limited to number of seats
owned):
20 Game Holders (not guaranteed)

Then Public Sale

If the Padres cannot guarantee open day tickets to all of its season
ticket holders (20-games), that means PETCO doesnt have enough seats
for all its season ticket holders. Its safe to say that the Public
sale will be moot.

You know, I've read that summary 3 times down and don't still any
language that states anything along the lines you have suggested.
The City can't "alter" Qualcomm (Section 23), the City must
repair "severe damage" (Section 20) and the City must maintain the
field and restore it after events held there (Section 11).

To suggest that the Chargers could, would or did issue any ultimatum
limiting the types of events that could be held at the Padres closing
day or any othe revent held there. And if I owned the Chargers, I'd
be a lot more concerned about how an even like the Billy Graham
Crussad would effect the field as opposed to the Padres last game
there.

I read the documents and it says nothing about giving the Chargers
any say about what types of events could be held at the Stadium. To
say that the Chargers would have any say over the Padres' closing
ceremony would be grossly inaccurate.

Although the Chargers now receive all revenue generated by the
advertising banners, that's not the same as "pretty much controlling
things" at the Q. It is unlikely that the Chargers had much "say"
about anything beyond requesting that steps be taken to protect the
turf.

Oh, dear, DON'T say Stadium LOL We are about 15 minutes from there
(Ballpark) but downtown will mean more traffic, less parking, etc. I
was just very spoiled.. now I actually will have to THINK about it!

yeah, I knew the chargers pretty much controlled the place. They get all of the
ad revenue from the stadium which seems rather unfair since they only play 8
games there most seasons(not counting pre-season or the extremely rare playoff
game)
Toga

I think the Chargers also probably set some limits on what could and
couldn't be done. For those of you who don't know, they have pretty
much controlled things since Susan's Folly (Mayor Golding) handed it to
the Chargers on a silver platter

Oh, dear, DON'T say Stadium LOL We are about 15 minutes from there
(Ballpark) but downtown will mean more traffic, less parking, etc. I
was just very spoiled.. now I actually will have to THINK about it!

I totally agree!

the Padres no matter their racial make up.

Please remember that the FANS chose the "legends" and fans aren't always
the most informed

I am going to park at 32nd Street and take that trolley or walk on nice
days/nights. I also intend to "park at the park" sit as much as I can

okay, are you guys talking players or front office? I don't think Kevin
Towers gives a tinkers damn about a player's skin colour as long as they
can play (or are within his budget?) btw, Mark Loretta is half Mexican,
on his mom's side, from what Matt and Mark have said... oh, well, I
don't get the point of this subject anyway!

Gaylord always made it exciting... those fly balls caught against the
wall... of course, not all the time between pitches...

Davis had some good years.. always wondered how much his slide was mental...

and I have truly mixed feelings about Winfield... but, Tony and Randy...
they have been here and stayed around. And I have never heard Randy
turn down an autograph, photo, etc. Oh, yeah, he won that little old Cy
Young Award... not that anyone would know by meeting him!

the all time team (notice how Kevin Brown wasn't even mentioned even tho
he was on the list?) was introduced on Saturday, if I remember
correctly. Sunday was a day for memories, you didn't have to be a
legendary player to be on the field that day

Ballard Smith is long gone. Krucky did want to be here, according to
what Matt and Mark had said
