I think nady will be a pretty good ballplayer. Boston is in somewhat of a
pickle with their very high payroll and with several of their top notch players
approaching free agency after 2004. Pedro and Nomar are in that group and once
they get done pleasing pedro there probably won't be any cash left for nomar.
That leaves the door open for a trade either this year or next for him. The
padres definately have the prospects that Boston would demand for a player of
his caliber and everyone knows how much Towers is dying to obtain a top flight
offensive shortstop so it's not entirely improbable that the pads can get him.If
someone like Herges, or Beck, or any of the other bullpens closer wannabe's
emerges they would probably be included in any deal for nomar with Boston's dire
need of a Closer. That's cool that your friend met rick sutcliff. I'm not in
an area of the country that has any sports personalities at all.
Toga
That might make for a decent outfield is Nady keeps up his production.
A friend of mine was in a bar recently with Rick Sutcliffe.
Apparently Mr. Sutcliff is predicting that the Padres somehow be in a
position to obtain Nomar Garciaparra. Sounds like a pipe dream to
me, but a cool rumor nonethless.
