Hi y'all,

I've been in this club awhile
but have never posted. Now seems like a good time,
considering the circumstances. I'm a San Diego native and
have been a Padres fan since I could walk,
basically.

My biggest memory of Mike Darr was making fun of
him. It was a game against the Dodgers, I think July
3rd, 2001; whatever day they gave out those tan caps
with the American flag on it (a perfect fit for my big
noggin, by the way lol). I brought a friend who isn't
into baseball much at all (the bum). Well, here comes
this white guy with a bunch of tattoos, getting
introduced by hiphop music. We kind of laughed about that,
making fun of the guy, calling him names, although it
was pure clean fun that I don't regret (we had Uecker
seats anyway, way up in View level).

It sucks
that he left behind a young wife and two sons. And
it's tragic that he died so young, only three years
older than I am. But we mustn't forget the fact that
alcohol possibly played a factor in this one. Hopefully
the Pads can use his death to send a message about
driving under the influence.

We'll always remember
ya, Mike. Right now, we know you're up in Heaven
getting batting tips from Shoeless Joe and the Mick
:)

Brian
