Well we lost in the first round...I couldn't get game 3 tix and my game 4 tix
are useless now.
But overall i have to say it was a successful season. We are Divsion Champs and
managed (albiet barely) a wining record despite numerous setbacks. The
determining factor this season and in the post season was a glaring lack of
starting pitching. With Peavey's broken rib this team is very beatable, even in
a short series. I really wonder about Woody and BLaw, are these guys washed up?
Woody is 39 and has declined severly three years in a row now. BLaw is yoounger
and should rebound, but he has never been overpowering. Astasio and Park?
Astasio last good season was in 2002, Park's, 2001. We might get some usage out
of these guys next year, but I think 10 wins would be pushing it for either of
these guys. Maybe even for both together. That leaves Peavey and Eaton. I like
Stauffer, but he's still a rookie and may take a couple of seasons to really
blossom. Ceasar Carillo, this years #1 pick will probably make the team sometime
during the year. The 2006 rotation?

1. Peavey
2. Eaton
3. BLaw
4. Woody/Astasio/Park
5. Stauffer/Germano/Carillo

Not bad, but if we want to win we need another starter Outside of Peavey capable
of 15+ wins. Eaton is due for a breakout year, but he's the only one who seems
up to the task. I would love to see KT pick up a #2 quality starter this winter.
No more May's and redding's please!

The bullpen is great and should be next year even if Hoffy starts to fade or
goes somewhere else.

The offense has been damned frustrating. I can't remember these guys
consistently moving runners at any time during the season outside of May. No
more crying about Petco! Other teams seem to score here and we've two years to
sort that out. I Like the infield of Nady, Loretta, Greene and Randa, but 2B
Barfield could easily force a move here. he's our top prospect and could put
Loretta or Randa on the trading block. I love Roberts in CF but his SB numbers
continue to decline. Klesko and Giles also disapoint. These should be our 30 HR
90 RBI guys, but both of them seem to have transformed into 15 HR 70 RBI types.
What's a GM to do? Ben Johnson and Mc Anualty aren't ready yet, so a trade my be
useful here. If Hernandez leaves, I like Olivo, and he could prove to be a nice
addition to the offense.
KY basicly stood pat with a team that won 87 games in '04 and came back 5 games
off that mark this year. Sure, we made the playoffs, but I bet it will be a long
time before we do that on 82 wins again. If the Pads are going to repete, KT is
going to have to make some seroius moves to improve the rotation, and add some
punch to the line up.
If Boch is going to let Nady play, Burroughs and Klesko may the one(s) to go. If
rookie Barfield
makes the big club, then either Randa or Loretta. We have a good young nucleus
of talent, so rebuilding is not in order. A couple of impact trades and/or a
free agent will keep us on top!
