I think it's just me, but this (so far) has been the weirdest world
championships I can remember for a long time - probably because terrible
thing are happening to my favourites.
My favourite pairs team (Shen & Zhao) out with injury, my favourite male
skater (Plushenko) out with injury, poor Marie-France and Patrice make a
huge mistake in their OD and drop 3 places - whew!
Anyhow, onto the men. I'm really happy that Emanuel came out yesterday
and tried his best to put it down (seems to have a mental block on that
axel). And he just has to get his speed back up (although I don't think
that would be much of a problem). After the LP last night, I re-watched
Eman's SP from Skate Canada in Quebec City. Where did that guy go? Let's
hope he has learned some valuable lessons from Nationals and Worlds and
works to improve these things.
Very happy for Stephane, Jeff and Evan. I had never seen Lambiel skate
before and I think my expectations were too high after reading the skating
forums yesterday. I thought he was okay, but I guess I'm used to having
guys like Yagudin or Plushenko in the mix, so to see a world champion
skate with popped jumps seems a little strange. Also strange to see a
silver medal go to the a 2-fall program. Have to get used to this new
system I guess.
Anyhow, onto the Ladies (please, please let Irina win this darned thing!).
Cheers everyone.
Doreen
