Emanuel didn't skate here, but I thought you might like a look at
what the other guys are doing. These events were the highlights of
the competition for me. Shawn Sawyer skated his LP as a Junior as
he's getting ready for the JGP competitions, but I've written it up
here for you....Hazel

1 Jeffrey BUTTLE SUDBURY NO
Music – Take Five (Paul Desmond) Fell on 4T but had landed a beaut
in the W/U; 3A; Death Drop type spin; 3Z from steps; camel/camel;
combo
spin. This program truly suits Jeff and, as usual he does wonderful
things with every beat of the music. Very inventive spins as well.
2 Shawn SAWYER CPA D'EDMUNSTON NB
Flying Sit; 3A3T (jumps may have been slightly 2 footed, but it was
a toe tap and they were fully rotated); steps to 3F; 2A;
camel/camel; combo spin
It's always a joy to see so much improvement in a skater over only a
6 month period. Shawn now has the total package, although I'd
suggest they rethink the one piece costume. The spins were
wonderfully inventive and made use of Shawn's phenomenal
flexibility. He'll be a real challenger this season, I suspect.
3 Jayson DENOMMEE CPA SHERBROOKE QC
4T2T; 3A 2 footed; Sit/Sit (8+4); steps to 3Z; combo spin; Death
Drop type spin. Jayson looked very good in this program. The
program had good choreography and he delivered it well. I hope that
this positive change continues through the LP tonight.
4 Nicholas YOUNG CPA ST HUBERT QC 4.0
Music – Duel (Bond) Fell on 4T but landed a gorgeous 4T3T in W/U;
3A held on to spin out landing; Sit/Sit; steps to 1Z; Flying Sit
(6?); combo spin
5 Marc-Olivier BOSSE CPA LORRAINE QC
Music – Nyah 4T fell; 2.5 A fell; Death Drop type spin; steps to
3Z; Sit/Sit (8+5); combo spin. Some nice touches choreographed to
the music, but for me this music will likely always be owned by Kurt.
6 Christopher MABEE TILLSONBURG WO
Music – Fantaisia (Pasis) The first skater out; 3A fell; 1 foot
footwork to 3F; Camel/Camel; 2A fell; Flying Sit; combo spin

1 Jeffrey BUTTLE SUDBURY NO
Music - Dieu! Dieu D'Israel! Ecoute la priere! (Camille Saint-
Saens);Mon Coeur S'ouvre a ta Voix (Camille Saint-Saens);
Mais!....Non! que dis-je? (Camille Saint-Saens); 3F; 4T fall; 2A;
3S; 3R; 1A; Death Drop type spin; 3Z; 3Z; Sit spin; Camel into catch
pos.; Somewhere in there Jeff did a gorgeous inside spread eagle.
The edge was so deep that I'm not sure how he recovered from it. In
addition, I believe that one of his triples directly followed it.
I'm glad that I'm getting to see this program more than once early
on in the season as it was mesmerizing to the point that I apologize
if I've missed an element or two.
2 Christopher MABEE TILLSONBURG WO
Music - Slaughter On 10th Avenue (Roger Rodgers) Rhapsody In Blue
(George Gershwin) Missed the first element; 3A; 3Z step out; 3F;
Camel/Camel; 1A; 3Z2T; steps/move? into 3S; spin; 3T; Death Drop
type spin; Camel spin. Chris' presentation is still excellent, but I
suspect that it's been toned down a bit in the LP so that he can
focus on nailing the jumps. A good move, IMO.
3 Nicholas YOUNG CPA ST HUBERT QC
Music – Kodo (Hugo Chouirand); Cherry Blossom (Hugo Chouirand); 3A;
3's into 3R which was on a great lean- amazing landing; 4S (step
out);Flying Camel-Sit spin; 3Z; spin; steps into 3S; 3A; 3T; Death
Drop type spin; 3F; Combo spin. A good program with well developed
details.

1 Shawn SAWYER CPA D'EDMUNSTON NB
Music – Dvorak Cello Concerto 4S slight cheat & hand down; 3F3T; 2A
possible slight toe tap; Flying Camel into Josee type position but
more laid over; 3Z exit into spiral position; 4T fall; spin; 3R held
on; 3Z steps to 3S; combo spin. I had a chance to chat with Shawn
after he skated. His SP was choreographed by Brian Orser and his LP
by his new coach, Gordon Forbes. Both programs are outstanding and
truly show him off in the best possible way.
