Hey everybody. It's been a very long time sense I last posted, but I
have finally gotten a chance to hit the dunes for the first time in
almost a year.
I have pics of where I ride (Warren Dunes, Michigan), I will post
them soon.
I also have added a sandboarding section to my web site
www.rayzak.com (caution, the non-sandboarding section is rather lude.
And, I have a question. I have an Ocean Culture 105 Jump board that
I'm having problems riding. It's not the board, I'm sure it's me. I
just can't keep the thing straight on a steep, fast ride. It works on
a less steep, slower run, but I still teeter like a kid on ice. I'll
be riding, and my board will start to turn to rotate.
Any time I try to turn, my nose digs in to the sand and I go flying
like some messed up train wreck.
I was a good rider, believe me. But I learned on a TOTALLY different
style board, so I'm starting over here.
I do snow board on occasion, so I've tried riding it like a snow
board, keeping your weight in the middle, and your shoulders parallel
with the ground, using your back foot to turn/carve. But when I do
this, again my nose ends up digging into the sand and off I go, like
some crazy @ss angel trying to reach heaven.
What am I doing wrong?
I'm thinking that I just need to loose about 20 pounds. I'm 195 and 5
foot 7. So I'm a stubby, stout little guy. I go bear foot (with back
straps) on the board, so its not like I have heels digging into the
ground. I know the board is fine. When I use it like a sled, I have a
blast!! I also wax it up before each run.
I should be able to post pics of Warren Dunes soon. Thanks for any
help you guys can be.
