Dear Friends, Brothers and Sisters.
I hope and pray all are doing fine...
My younger brother Akhtar Hasan age only 28, has serious renal
malfunction situation and its irreversible as we are told. Only
solution to this problem is a transplant as both his kidneys are
functioning only less than 25% and situation is getting even worse
with every passing day.
Now, situation is this.
The whole process/package cost for his renal transplant is coming
upto (Pak Rupees) Rs.510,000 which is equal to US$.8,500
approximately.
Coming from poor family background, I am not sure that we the family
can afford this cost. My brother is young, and was studying till the
time he started having pains and symptoms of his kidney failure. He
has ambitions, and he is hardworking. Doctors have suggested and
advised for an urgent transplant or there might be complications, if
delayed for more than a month or maximum two months.
I wanted to ask you folks if someone has any idea how we can handle
this situation so that Akhtar can have a healthy kidney and get on
with his studies and live somewhat normal life.
Concern and problem is of financial nature of course.
Anyone would like to view his renal scan report, please let me know.
We have set up an account if anyone would like to help… All we need
is US$ 8500… and anyone can contribute as much as they possibly can.
As soon as we have US$.8500… a "thanks you" e-mail will be sent to
all of you so that everyone knows we are OK and Akhtar has been
hospitalized for the transplant.
Please help, a man's life is at stake…
Thanks for your time & prayers.

Very cool description... I like the translation of koshi no mawari. All in all
it seems as though you received some pretty intense training. Now that you have
it, what are you planning to do with it? Are you going to bring it to the
masses ( that qualify of course) or are you going to practice it for yourself.
With Sosuishi ryu being in the UK, I assume you will be hooking up with that
group at some point.
Trying to translate a traditional ryuha outside of the native country with
people not familiar with the customs and training methods is difficult ( my own
instructors in martial arts some years ago would give a whole slew of reasons
why this is true). One good peice of advise my friends still practicing the
system i was a part of say that screening potential applicants is essential.
The training is hard enough without having some knuckle head who wants to be Ken
Watanabe or Tom Cruise.
Thanks again for the explanation and once again good luck in your training.

Walt,
Yes Araki ryu is very aggressive in characteristics and technique.
We train in iai, kenjutsu, bojutsu, sojutsu (yari), nagamaki,
kusarigama, chigiriki, ryofundo (manrikigusari). kogusoku (close
combat techniques utilizing grappling and the use of a short sword)
and shurikenjutsu.
Sosuishi ryu Kumi Uchi Koshi No Mawari is a 450 year old bugei ryuha
from the Bungo Takeda domain (Present day Fukuoka & Oita
prefectures) and is an off shoot of Japan's oldest systemized
jujutsu ryuha, Takenouchi ryu.
Sosuishi ryu teaches kumi uchi (jujutsu & yoroi kumi uchi) Koshi No
Mawari (swordsmanship with long & short sword) and shurikenjutsu.
Koshi No Mawari is not really a martial discipline, it's more like a
martial concept.
Koshi No Mawari translated into English means "around the hips" and
refers to the concept that anything that is around your hips can be
used as a weapon against your enemy, be it a sword, dagger, fan,
teacup, etc, etc.
Sosuishi ryu is taught in Fukuoka & Tokyo in Japan, Sydney
Australia, New York & Oregon in the U.S. and now, in London,
England, UK. Worldwide, there are only less than a hundred
practicioners of this ryuha.
Thanks.

not know much about Sosuishi ryu. How about a low down??? I myself
was fortunate enough to study Yoshin Ryu for a time. Military
service took me away from the area and I have not trained in that
system for over ten years. Good stuff though as my training is much
moe diverse now.

I would like to draw list members' attention to an important Budo
event that will take place in Delphi, Greece on the 22th to 25th of
July, 2004.
The Budo Festival for Peace
===========================
The idea of the project is to bring youth who are Budo practitioners
and who live in areas that are in violent conflict. This project is
seen as a pilot program that will be the basis of on-going worldwide
festivals.
I'm not going to go into too much detail here, but would ask that you
have a quick look at the BFP's website:
http://www.budoforpeace.org/
We are currently looking for young Budokas between the ages of 10 to
15 to participate in the Festival. The requirements are that you are
a practitioner of one, or more of the following Budos:
KARATE
JUDO
SHORINJI KEMPO
AIKIDO
KENDO
We are also looking for adults with Budo backgrounds to assist in
running the project in Delphi itself.
We are also trying to attract youngsters from areas where they have
been subjected to violent conflict. Current targeted countries include:
BOSNIA
CROATIA
KOSOVO
ALBANIA
SERBIA
NORTHERN IRELAND AND THE REPUBLIC OF IRELAND
LEBANON
PALESTINE
ISRAEL
CYPRUS (GREEK AND TURKISH)
If you know of anyone who might want to attend this new Budo
experience, then please ask them to contact NIGEL KERSH on
nckersh@...

After the swords were outlawed in Japan the only way to legaly

I practice Daito-Ryu in the United States.
Recently I was told that there are only a few high ranking
teachers authorized by Japan to teach Daito_Ryu in
America. If this is true I'd love to know if my schools
head instructor is among them. Can you provide the
names and locations of authorized teachers of Daito-Ryu
in the US?
the "official" daito-ryu organisation with that
website is only "official" because it is still the Takeda
family. the actual Ryu ceased to exist around about WW2,
as did most of the old ryu-ha, since all the old
arts were banned after the japanese surrender. there
are several groups practicing daito ryu here in
japan, but I guess the www.daito-ryu.com people are the
easiest to find out about and are certainly the biggest
organisation.

anyway sorry I just found this club after searching for
Daito ryu, which i'm studying here in tokyo at the
moment. before coming here i studied with John Bear
Shihan of the Kokusai Jujutsu ryu (IJJI) back in
Canberra. if anyone has any questions about daito ryu i'd
be happy to answer, or try to find out from one of
my teachers.

yoroshiku

there you can find your nearest dojo, and some tips if
