Eurpean Savate players all wear cups!!! In fact cups are manadtory
for competition in Europe.
Savate allows kicks to any part of the body except the groin and
throat.
Round kicks in savate are snap kicks but savate also has more pushy
style kicks called 'chasse' which are basically front push kick and
side kicks.
I hope that makes things a little clearer

Of course we use them in Europe, we do want to contribute to our
population growth rates.
