Re: [Salle de Savate] Savate out west?

now. I train in Muay Thai in Arizona, but am interested in learning
a bit more about Savate. Are there any places out west, or are there
ever any seminars out here, where one could learn more about savate?

Also, I was reading the post from several months back
entitled "injuries" about fighting with shoes. It's a totally
different dynamic for those of us in Muay Thai. Also, my
understanding is that Savate kicks are pretty much all snap kicks. I
can see how that would hurt, especially with the shoe!

So what are the legal target areas in savate competitions? Does it
allow leg kicks like in Muay Thai/international rules kickboxing?

Also, a friend of mine who is involved with Savate said it is not
Savate tradition for fighters to wear cups. That sounded really
suspicious to me. Are they crazy in Europe? Or is that just how
they keep population growth rates down. ;-)

I don't know about your friend but it is risky not to wear a cup. Of course we
use them in Europe, we do want to contribute to our population growth rates.

"Push kicks" is not really an accurate description of course. The action is more of a thrust, in the same manner that you might thrust your heel into a jammed...
