See Trilogy Inline Skaters in Action
Because some of you didn't receive the first set of pictures or
couldn't open them, I made a photo show that you can link to. To hear
the music you need speakers, and downloading the pictures is possible.
Enjoy and I hope this works. A big thank you to Archie Jefferson who
took the pictures…

residents buying their skates.
We are growing fast. More than 48 attended our first event and over 15
skated; 8 bought skates already; 5 practiced at our first group
practice on Monday; and over 35 are on our emailing list. This week a
half-dozen more inquired about joining. Not bad for being only 10 days
old.

Join Group Practice
Group practice is every Monday, Wednesday, and Friday, 6 – 8 PM in the
Vista parking lot. This is a great opportunity to hone your skills
with other Trilogy inline skaters and have fun learning. Come as
often as you can. The more you practice the better you get!
Suggestions from Trilogy Rio Vista Skaters
1. Purchase wrist guards with hard plastic on the front and back.
2. Bring water to drink to group practices and consider bringing a
portable chair for taking a break.
3. Put your knee and elbow pads on first, then your skates. Wrist
guards last…
4. Put your hands on your knees to steady yourself, rest while
skating…and to prevent falling.
5. You'll discover muscles you thought you didn't have. Don't worry
they'll get stronger.
6. Try SUPERFEET to provide more comfort for your feet. Call Steve or
see website listings below.
7. Wear NON-cotton socks to prevent blisters and sweaty feet.
8. Duck walk on your grass to the nearest mailbox if one is close to
step down to the street. Remember most of our driveways slope down.
You'll learn how to go up and down curbs at our next lessons.

Skating Tips for a Safe Skating
Always wear a helmet, wrist guards, knee and elbow pads when inline
skating. Wearing protective gear will greatly decrease the chances of
injury and will give you more confidence.
The best way to start inline skating is to take a lesson with an
instructor.
Learn a few important skating skills on grass or carpet to get used
to the feel of your inline skates before you step onto the pavement.
Walk around with both toes pointed slightly outward -- that is how
you'll push off once you're rolling on the pavement.
Practice balancing on one foot at a time. The better your balance
becomes, the easier stopping and striding will be for you.
Bend your knees as much as possible. Keeping a low stance increases
overall balance and the length of your stride, thereby improving the
efficiency of your skating technique and your control. Your weight
should be balanced on the balls of your feet. Avoid standing up
straight with your knees locked or balancing your weight on their heels.
Avoid hills and declines when you're starting out. You can build up
speed on even a slight decline. Find a flat surface that's free of
debris or cracks, such as an empty parking lot, tennis court or
basketball court to hone braking skills. When you're ready to try
inclines, start on a gentle grade.
Stick to dry pavement. Skating in water is dangerous! Sand can
damage bearings and hurt skate performance.
Thanks again to Bosco, Duke, and all of you great film makers.
