SKATE INSTRUCTORS LEARN FROM PAST, PLAN FOR RESURGANCE Long Beach, CA
-- The United Skate Schools Group (ussg) Inaugural Instructor
Education Conference was held on Saturday, October 15th in conjunction
with the Long Beach International Marathon Expo. Participants included
ussg advisors, specialists, and instructor members from Canada and the
United States.
According to a press release from the group, by the end of the day
that a revival of inline skating and education is eminent. Targeting
women age 40 as the primary demographic, "fitness" was highlighted as
the single best reason to skate, further that it didn't need to be a

NEXT MEETING OF RECREATIONAL & FITNESS SKATING ALLIANCE OF NORTH
AMERICA SET FOR MIAMI 2006 The Ad-Hoc Recreational & Fitness Skating
Alliance of North America will be convening in Miami this spring in
conjunction with The Great EsSkate. The Great EsSkate has now posted
its entire festival schedule. Visit www.SkateMiami.com and click on
"schedule" for details. The next industry meeting is already
scheduled for 5:30 - 7:00 pm in the host hotel on Saturday of the
festival weekend. This will be the next meeting of industry members
and the goal will be to come up with ideas for action. Please start
to plan now for attending the event. When taking a look at the Great
EsSkate schedule, you will see it is an entire weekend full of
skating, fun, and food for an incredibly low price. We can't wait to
see you there!
ROLLERBLADE ROLLERDOME CELEBRATES 15TH YEAR The XV season of
Minneapolis' Rollerblade Rollerdome opened with a strong showing
according to owner/operator Mike Cofrin. Mike invites everyone
involved in the industry to come out and Roll-The-Dome this season!

FREE SKATE LESSON PROGRAM EXPANDS FOR 2006 The Free Skate Lesson
program has expanded for 2006 to 14 participating skate schools in 12
major US cities with three additional schools scheduled to be added
soon. The goal of the program is to provide free introductory lessons
to the public, helping people safely take up the sport and reducing
the immediate dropout rate due to new skaters being unable to stop.
The program will be in its fourth year next year. It was started in
2003 by four Certified Skating Instructors and is now sponsored by
Rollerblade and Zephyr Adventures. See www.FreeSkateLesson.com for

the Northshore Inline Marathon. 32 industry professionals met and
