Re: [sabaki] When your back is against the wall

All katas have the possibility of ground fighting weapons throws chokes
punch's and yes back against the wall even corrections if you mess up the
first technic.

Subject: [sabaki] When your back is against the wall

Quite a while ago, when this list was more active, we had a lot of
discussion about what kata stories meant.

Among which there were many who felt Naifanchi being done as a kata
with one's back against the wall was just a fable, not reality based.

Last night I was watching the newly released Casino Royale, the
latest James Bond movie, and in one of the early fight sequences, he
and his opponent were fighting on the side of a crane arm hundreds of
feet in the air. There was a very narrow walkway and with both their
backs against the crane arm, guess what it looks suspiciously like
Naifanchi combat.

Sure movies are fiction, but in this case it's clear to me, Naifanchi
was created for James Bond to fight sideways on a crane hundreds of
feet in the air.

See the movie yourself, enjoy it, and see if my impression is right.
