Hi Folks,
It saddens me to say this, but if we don't get at least 15 people registered for the UPA coaching corps clinic and volunteer training Sat Feb 9th in Houston (to be held at Rice University in Central Houston), it will be cancelled by the UPA. It isn't often that the South Region or Texas gets to play host to UPA events, especially youth focused ones. This is an opportunity to increase credibility of the sport and your knowledge as a player , coach, or volunteer. We might lose it if we don't get enough registrations by Friday, Feb 1, 2008. The registration deadline has already passed, but I would really like to see this clinic offered in Texas.

Hey All,

 

On Wednesday the team discussed changing the weekend game day/time, and the consensus was to move it to Sunday at 3pm (a real 3pm…not 3ish or 3:45) at Trinity.

 

There will no longer be a Saturday morning game.  Sorry Roland, I know you liked waking up early for those games.

As for next week, I need someone to help me get the fields-  they won't let a single person reserve more than two weeks at a time.  Email me off list if you are able/willing to head to the fields office and put down $48-  since Jeremy is hobbled, I think it is fair we find someone else to help with this task.

This is a follow-up e-mail (especially for those that might not have seen the e-mail below) regarding the Doublewide Clinic.  Note that this clinic will run from 10:00 am until 12:00 pm followed by a hat tournament (sponsored by the Verti-kills of LBJ High School) that will start at 12:30 pm and go until 5:00 pm.
 
And, please note that these events (i.e., the Doublewide Clinic and the subsequent hat tournament) are open to both high school players and those of y'all on the list who are less than a year removed (i.e., in your first year of college).
 
More information on these events is included in the attached flyer.
 
So, if you can find time in your schedule to attend this great event, it will be well worth it.

Doublewide, one of the premier ultimate teams in the country, will be hosting a clinic for all interested high school players in early January 2008. 
 
Following are details on this exciting event:
 
Date: Sunday, January 6, 2008
 
Time: 10:00 am until 12:00 pm
 
Location: Lyndon Baines Johnson (LBJ) High School Fields
 
Address: 7309 Lazy Creek Drive
                Austin TX 78724
 
Refreshments: Water and small snack items will be provided for all clinic attendees
 
We are currently experiencing some technical difficulties with our website but, once those are corrected, you'll find more information on this great event by going to: www.ultimatespirit.org
 
In the meantime, we wanted to get the word out now so that you can start making plans to be in attendance.  This is truly a great opportunity for all high school players to get instruction and learn skills from some elite level players!
 
And, if you have friends that may be interested in attending who did not receive this e-mail, please pass this information along to them.
 
REMEMBER ... ALL HIGH SCHOOL PLAYERS ARE WELCOME (from beginners to those ready to compete on the collegiate and/or national level)!!!

Welcome to the Ultimate Community of TEXAS!   It is
GREAT to have you here!

We are organizing an event THIS SUNDAY for players
your age.  One of the high school teams in Austin is
hosting and instructional clinic.  Can you see the
flyer I have attached?

Austin is about an hour from San Antonio, perhaps too
far for you to come and enjoy the coaching of our
TEXAS representatives in the National Competition.


I am posting to the San Antonio list, in case anyone
else wants to make the trek.   Perhaps a carpool is in
order?     Anyone willing to drive these kidsto
Austin?

Perhaps an  incentive....there is Austin winter league
going on...games at 1pm.   you can drop the kids at
the youth event, and then go play yourself for a
couple of hours.    The league is accepting pick-up
players (cost $10) this week.     More information at austinwinterleague.com
