Hi all,

Second last mass-email from me, attached is my report on the Championships in
Microsoft Word and Adobe format.

Financial statement to follow once I figure out how to balance my balance sheet.
May take some time.

Apologies for the additional, but the photo's are at the following website:
http://www.supersportimages.com/ (there will
also be a link from the VFDA website http://vfda.asn.au/).

To access the photos, simply enter the TEAM name. Note that some photos have
been misclassified and some teams may not show team photos. Have a look at the
other teams and you will probably find your teams photo's.

Hi Frisbee goers!!!!

Yet another week of fearce frisbee action awaits!!!!

I personally recomend comming down on monday night for some frisbee action from 7:30 pm,  It will prepair you for the week ahead and get your blood pumping in true public holiday tradition!!!!!!!

And for a double dose we now present WEDNESDAY NIGHT ULTIMATE IN THE CITY!!!!!!!!!!!!!   after a momentus breakthrough in frisbee relations with adelaide university (mainly since the greenkeeper who threatend to have the dogs sent after us 1997-98 or so)

The games are held opposite the adelaide university gym (on a soccer field off the road behind the zoo/ parklands, look for the frisbee) They play from 6:30-8:30pm and there are several people from the uni there already playing.

Also we will be out in force on Sunday 26/5 in the afternoon at 2:30 for some of the "fortnightly in the city" Ultimate practice/ games.

Hope all can come out to play as it will all be great fun as usual!!!!

Yours in Frisbee

Hi all,

With the rapid increase of ultimate frisbee in universities throughout
Victoria, South Australia and Tasmania, as well as the sports' inclusion in
the Southern University Games, a new mailing list has been created.

Similar to its counterpart for NSW and ACT unis, southern-unis is for
universities in the AUS South region (Vic, SA and Tas). It will be used to
communicate information on upcoming events and tournaments in the region,
including IVs and SUG, as well as anything else we want to hide from the
rest of the country!

So if you are at a university in the Southern region, make sure to get
subscribed to southern-unis. Send a blank email to
southern-unis-subscribe@yahoogroups.com or go to the lists web page:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/southern-unis/ To send an email to this list,
address it to southern-unis@yahoogroups.com

And on a side note, I want to wish all the uni teams good luck this year.
With the AusWest Championships this Friday, followed in July by Eastern
University Games, Southern University Games, Northern University
Championships, and then the big one - Australian University Games, it is
going to be a huge year!

Cheers,

Andrew Olennick.

Im sorry to say that due to lack of attendance on our fortnightly Sunday games I have had to suspend games until further notice.  It was originally intended to give the DSTO guys an opertunity to come out for a game if they want but only Christan showed up.  Ill try and get it going again in summer and will let you know.

If you guys are keen for me to get it going again give me an email and I can get it going (but people have to come out to make it worth while!!!)

We are running a wednesday night game courtisy of adelaide uni at 6:30- 8:30pm.  It is right onto war memorial drive off frome road in city (behind the zoo.) on the second soccer field along.

Also mondays is still happening at 7:30pm at flinders uni as per normal.  Attendance has been a bit lax its not that cold once you start running so get down for some ultimate!!!!!!!  Im even making some bibs for us so we know which teams we are on!!!!! (with help from my sis robbie)

(if you are concerned about the cold think of people in US / europe who play in snow)

There are moves afoot to get an inaugural Oz team along to the Junior
Worlds Ultimate (WUJC) Tournament in 2004. The venue is yet to be
decided (at WCC in August I think). It was in Latvia this year.

So why am I telling you now?

1. It takes most people young enough to go at least 2 years to get
their funds together,
2. If we don't have a likely team together now, 2 years is not much
time to find new players, get them enthused and good enough to think
they can join, and get funds together to get to wherever - especially
for someone likely to have little income. Since most new players come
from the University sign-ons, this year is the last year to get
maximum playing time for new players (Uni recruiters pls take note).

What can you do?
PLAYERS:
1. If you are eligible (born 1984 or later) and interested, let the
folks at the contact group know - get on the list:
http://groups.yahoo.com/group/pov_international/
2. If you know of anyone eligible/interested, get them to do the same
3. Encourage new players that come into the game through university
or other means to do the same
EXPERIENCE:
4. Older players - remember how much it took to get the first WCC Oz
team together? Please encourage/lend a hand to the new
players/organisers
5. If you are interested in helping organise, get on the list too.

We need to be targeting more players than we need on the trip because
of the usual drop-offs through changed circumstances, lack of funds,
etc that will occur over 2 years.

This effort is for 2004, but to get a really good team together, the
future players for future tourneys need to be starting before the
usual uni recruitment age. ACT has a group who started playing in
high school, and should give the team some serious grunt for 2004.

Dear all,

Expressions of interest for "Mixed" Nationals 2002 are now being taken. The
tournament will be held on the 19th and 20th of October, 2002 at Meadowbank,
about 25 minutes (by train) west of the Sydney CBD. With 14 teams at mixed
nationals last year, 2002 looks like it will be the biggest year yet. NZ is
also planning some revenge, with one of their teams, SPY, indicating that they
will be coming across.

A web site with full information about registration, venue, parties, the draw,
accomodation etc should be up in the next week or two.

Thanks,

Mel Gangemi

Hi Frisbee gang,

We have had some great conditions for playing ultimate last few weeks.  Ie no wind not too hot ect.  It was a bit chilly but nothing a bit of running / Frisbee won't cure.

Get down this monday for some ultimate frisbee fun, this means you Mike L from flinders Ill get Joel to bring you your beer!!!  what type do you want? (I recomend coopers stout to keep your brass monkys from dropping off!!!)  Flinders is around 7:30 - 8:00pm on the footy field off uni drive.

Also ther has been a return of the wednesday ultimate in the city group assosiated with Adelaide UNI.  Thats right its back on Wednesday 6:30pm in the city (Christan from DSTO or Pete can you forward this on to your frisbee guys?? we would love to see you out again and the city is closer than flinders : ) Rog this would also be closer to your new location.

The location is oposite adelaide uni gym, off war memorial drive (behind the zoo) on whats called the "neck" as it is the narrowist bit of the playing fields at that point(about the second soccer field down)

So no excuses now there is lots of Ultimate to go around. I look forward to seeing you all out for some casual fun frisbee frevolity!!!!

thanks

There is a University Ultimate Championship from the 29/9 - 4/10 this year

There will be ID checks at the games so we need real flinders students who
want to play to email Michael Wabbs by wednesday morning that they can
definately play. There is a $50 deposit that needs to be paid to enter but
if you show up to play it is refunded to you (less the cost of a tee shirt I
belive is around $8)

Should be a great comp so if you want in and can definately play email :

Hej, all of you!

I just wanted to remind you of Saturday!
You are all very welcome to play som Brannboll ( Burnball), and have som fun and it would be so great if you all could come!!
It is a Swedish game that we used to play as kids and when we got older and more mature we made the rules a bit more complex, by adding beerdrinking to it!! It is really fun!
We will play in the park behind my house on 39 Buttrosestreet in Glenelg East at around 14.00 and forward. Afterwards we will have a BBQ at the same place, so if you can not make it to the game , come and join the barbie!
What to bring: Beer and something for the barbie.

If it is raining, there will not be a game and if you need directions or have any other questions (or just want to tell me something funny), give me a call on 82942774 or my housemate Lotta on 0422-273237!

Hope to see you on Saturday!  / Kristina  (from Sweden)

* Save later ugliness, make sure that your team is in concurrence with the AFDA

* All registrations need to be submitted by the 27th of September and must be
accompanied by a A$150 team fee. We would really appreciate it if teams could

Hi Guys,

We currently have three days of ultimate a week.  How cool is that.

We are meeting Sunday behind the zoo at 2pm for some ultimate. (If you turn right off from road after the zoo and torrens bridge down war memorial drive, we play between the first and second soccer fields)

Monday Nights at 7:30pm sharp (no kidding) at flinders uni footy oval (the only one with club rooms on the other side and lights!!)

Wednesday nights around 6:15pm in the same place as sunday arvo.

Also remember to get time off for melbourne hat torniment on the first full weekend in december.  It is great fun for all and it is well worth the effort. (normally there are sixteen teams!!)

Stay cool and keep those discs flying!!!

Hello and welcome to your personal introduction to the XIVth Melbourne Hat.

The theme for the 2002 Melbourne Hat is SUPERHAT!

"What does this mean?", I hear you ask.........It means that when you are
packing to
come to the best tournament in Australia, you will need to include your cape,
your
mask and your utility belt packed with all your superhero essentials. It means
that
you can show off your flying skills to all the other superheroes that will be in
Melbourne that weekend. It means that lycra will be the in thing, and most
importantly, it means that when you get dressed to play at the Melbourne Hat you
can
put your undies on the outside!!!

Now to the details: as usual the Melbourne Hat will be held on the first weekend
in
December - 7th & 8th of December - in Albert Park. All players of all standards
and
all shapes, all sizes and all sexes are welcome to join in the festivities, as
long
as they bring along a great sense of fun and a love of ultimate. The cost for
the
weekend will again be kept at $60. For this measly sum you will receive 2 days
of
play, a shirt, a great party and 5 meals - "Bargain", I say.

Registrations are now open on our jazzy new Hat Registration page -
http://vfda.asn.au/hat/register/. For 2002, we have introduced an individual
registration number system that will generate a number for each person when
registering. Please take note of this number and quote it when paying to ensure
that
we know who has paid. We have also made it easier to pay your fee by providing
our
bank details so that you can pay either at your local branch or via the
internet,
directly into our account. All details are on the registration page.

So, if you believe in truth, justice and the ultimate way, then get cracking and
register. We do have a player cap, and I'm expecting to reach it fairly easily
this
year.

See you in December,

Cath Bowker
HAT XIV TD

PS Sorry if you have already been sent this email, but I've been having
technical
difficulties with the egroups and have sent it twice.

Hi,

Martin Laird has asked me to forward this to sa-ultimate... Can
somebody respond to Darren (with a copy to Martin). Mike are you the
best person for the job?

To help guys like Darren find out what is going on, it would be really
good to have a simple SA ultimate web site listing where and when you
play. If anyone has the time and skills to develop some simple html
code (the simpler the better I reckon!), I can get it put up on the
AFDA web site really easily. The existing web site was good when it
was up to date - but it is years out of date now!

ciao

Jemery

Hi Martin,

I'm looking for a comp or somewhere I can play in Adelaide. Any info would

Thanks, Daz!
