Re: [ryanownersclub] Tandem Car-Topping

Not to mention the tremendous drag and unneeded stress put on the bike.

Nice. But I would take the mesh seats off first. They make great bug catchers.

Subject: [ryanownersclub] Tandem Car-Topping

 To All,

After many years of pick-up trucks, trailers, and vans, I have finally worked out a transport for our USS custom made tandem (it is actually a 34” stretch on the Avatar 2000 frame design). I have attached a couple of epics. As you can see, I was able to use my old Quick n Easy canoe carrier with a mount for the front fork and a Saris trunk carrier for the rear wheel. I used two U-bolts in the right places to attach a fabricated channel to the Saris for holding the rear wheel in place. Four cinch straps hold the bike in place very securely.

This design makes for a very easy load / unload operation. We are very pleased with the way this unit works.

When I bought my Vanguard two years ago (made in the early 90's I think), there was some play in the steering. I tracked it down to a worn "spherical rod end"...
