I have a Continental TT2000 20" x 1 3/8" tire on mine that has lasted forever.
I just got a Shwalbe Marathon online to finally replace it but unfortunately it's 1.5".  I'll see how much difference it makes.  With a touring load on the front rack, it's probably better.
