You just missed a Vanguard on e-Bay, going for about $800 (base bid).  I think it was in SC, though.  An investment in a new Slipstream might be best bet (??)  Some components for older Vanguards with Suntour running gear are getting hard to find and converting to Shimano can be something of a challenge, as I understand it from the lead wrench at our store.

I'm new to this list, but I've been riding recumbents for at least the
last 10 years. I currently ride a Haluzak Horizon SWB, in large part
because it is USS. I've thought about trying a Vanguard/Slipstream for
some time, and I think I'm ready to pull the trigger.

If you have a Vanguard or Slipstream for sale, please send me an email
- particularly if you're in New England. I'd love to be able to take a
test ride and not have to ship it.
