Hello all and happy new year. My name is Barbara. Although I have been a dues paying member of the club for several years, I have never participated in any group activities. The group runs and summer events have tended to be at times that don't work with my schedule and so I just haven't made it to anything. I have, admittedly, been a lurker on this list for a while and have gotten some useful information.
I am planning to run the More Magazine marathon/half marathon in the spring. This is a women's only run (sorry fellas) that takes place on sunday morning, april 6 in NYC. I am planning to run the half marathon, but the way it works is that if you run the half, you need to be paired with someone else running the half and while you do get your individual time, the two times are paired together to come up with a marathon time. If you don't enter with someone they will pair you up with someone. It is a race for women over 40 (that's me), but if you are running the half, you can pair with someone younger than 40. So, I'm wondering if anyone is interested in running this race with me. At the minimum, it means that our scores would be paired. Beyond that, if schedules and logistics worked, we could possibly do some training together. I am not a fast runner - my last half marathon was about 1 1/2 years ago at a 10:20 pace; I haven't gotten any faster, but I am a pretty regular runner, and while I wouldn't mind improving my pace, just setting the goal and doing the distance is mostly what is about for me at this point.
