Where do I fit in, since I'm neither competitive or normal?
Bill, I did not know you were coming off an injury. I hope you have a speedy recovery!

Michelle,
Yes, there are competitive runners in the club BUT, there are normal people who run too in the club. I have been trying to get some 9 minute mile or greater runners together for Saturday runs. It seems that everyone (slower ones that is) feels they aren't good enough, fast enough, thin enough, or what ever. I just don't get it. I am recovering from a injury and for the time being I run 10 minute miles. You know what, I bet any of the faster runners couldn't handle my job or have the talents that I get paid for. All I want to do is get some good exersize and maybe get to see some people on Saturday morning. So what if almost everyone else is faster. I do what I do and its motivating to meet everybody at 6:30 pm on Wednesdays and 8:00 am on Saturdays.
If you can find some time on a Wednesday or Saturday, I'll run with you and who knows, you will probably leave me in the dust.

But he also says this. "You know what, I bet any of the faster runners couldn't handle my job or have the talents that I get paid for" A legond in his own mind...
LOL. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and assume that he was saying that we all have our something that we do better than anybody else (especially if we...
Bill, hmmmmmmmmmmmm, what do you mean by normal people in the club?? I saw this in the digest while I was away and thought about this a great deal. I'm not...
Thanks for defending us competitive runners. Sometimes I think people don't realize that you typically have to train harder than everyone else to win races and...
I figured out what the thing about the talents he gets paid for was in reference to. I totally missed it at first, like everybody else in this forum. See, I...

I have on occasion spelled something incorrectly. Don't feel badly. There's always one person that feels the need to correct us. And sometimes it surprises us...
Funny you should bring that up - we will be opening nominations at our next General Membership Meeting on September 19th. Any preliminary suggestions from...
LOL. I don't misspell - I make typos! :) -Rose ... There's always one person that feels the need to correct us. And sometimes it surprises us who it is. Funny...

For me the best quality in a runner is being humble. I have much respect for runners who in their prime ran 15's,16's, 17's+ (no matter the time) and now as...
