OK, sorry for the double post.

But going on the fact that I won't be there on many of the monday
nights, and that we are officially a club now, I need to ask for
volunteers to divide the labor so we can really try to a) increase
the student body participation b) round up some more femmes to
balance us out and c) to try to improve the skill level of everyone
to improve the level and enjoyment by all.

So this is what I've come up with -

Publicity - someone come up with a template sign that is simple and
eye catching - tells the basic components (COED frisbee, all levels
welcome, days, time of play, directions) and a picture. A couple
people (students) need to take the signs to student life to get
stamped, and then put up around campus. This can be done every 2-3
weeks.

Lights - they have been pretty good lately about turning on lights,
but 2-3 people (anyone, the ones who consistently show up earliest)
should be ready to run over to the IE at the Rec center if they do
not have the lights on by 6:30.

Practice - I would like to designate a specific time before pickup,
probably on mondays b/c of the shorter time to play on Thurs, to have
a practice session where a couple of the experienced players help the
beginners with improving basics (throws, cuts, ect). I know the
majority of people just come to play, but I think this will improve
the overall play. So I don't know, maybe those beginners who are
interested should pick a time that they would most likely be able to
make, say 6 30 or 6 45, and then have a couple of experienced
players (ie John, Kim, ect..) who like to teach could come up with
some sort of new schedule to work on one thing each week. I think 1/2
hour/ wk should be good. I know I have a lot to work on meself.

I will remain the field space coordinator and contact for the club
and in charge of the roster.

Please let me know if you can help out with taking charge of these,
or if you have any other ideas of how we could improve.

Any thoughts for a tournament will have to wait til spring (sorry)

Hey everybody,

I hope everyone is enjoying the new Mon Thurs schedule. I don't know
how many Mon nights I will be there b/c of classes so I would like to
post some thoughts.

I just want to write my perspective on our field space. I know there
was some confusion and frustration last Thursday concerning where to
play. We DO NOT have any written contract with IM, we just have an
agreement that we will be able to use the fields when softball is not
in session. For now, that means Mondays anytime, and Thurs BEFORE
8:30 (they have a 850 league every week).

Although we are given priority on the space, there are a lot of other
groups that are interested as well. I Do Not want our group to
create friction with other groups of the community. When people go
to complain at the Rec office, this looks bad for us as a group. I
think if we try to be consistent of where we set up the fields,
explain diplomatically to the other groups our situation and that
they are free to use any other space, this should prevent future
conflict.

We have to remember that our arrangement is tenative and we want to
be thought of as a group that can be worked with. Sorry for the long
winded tirade, I just want to set the stage for a friction free
frisbee zone.

Reminder - if it is raining hard just prior to ulti time, we most
likely will NOT have pickup, as they will not turn on lights b/c of
liability. It looks ok for today so far, but just keep that in mind.

just a reminder that our game has moved to Mondays (e.g. today) and
Thursdays at 6pm. This is one hour earlier than previous start
times. Please try to get there at 6 today!

also, note that the game has moved back to the old fields at the
corner of blaine and canyon crest.

If you're near UCR, you can expect some people to be around to throw with on
the fields at the corner of Canyon Crest and Blaine tonight (Monday, 10/24).
I think we've got game on from 6-9PM, but not sure when people will actually
show up (our old Tuesday game dragged until close to or after 7PM for
start).

Cheers,
-Albert

OK folks, some good news. Talked to Paul... since they only got one or
two teams for softball on Thurs night, we can have the fields (the old
fields) on Thurs night b/w 6 - 8:30. We have to finish by 8 30 though
b/c they have to set up the fields for the league at 8:50. But thats
better than nothing. So our schedule will be Monday 6 - 9 and Thurs 6 -
  8:30.

OK folks, the good news first. Ultimate Frisbee is an OFFICIAL
club at UCR! Lots of paperwork and meetings, but now we can
hopefully have more pull getting fields, and possibly money for
supplies.

So about having more pull getting the fields. Not really. Looks
like soccer and flag football filled up so we will not be able to
have the good fields anymore (at least not this quarter).

Where does that leave us? We can officially go back to Monday
nights for the whole night on the old fields on the corner of Canyon
Crest and Blaine. We can POSSIBLY share the field Thurs nights,
but they still have to figure out if enough teams have signed up by
Thurs to run a league.

Other possibilities - Weds night is still city league nights.
Someone (ie not me) could contact the city park and rec and see if
there is a space opening on Weds to play (mention we are a sponsored
club if you have to). The field inside the track is supposedly open
to the public now. We would have to contact the athletic department
and see if they would allow us to reserve a night to play.
Volunteers? (student or staff).

So anyway, there we are. We WILL NOT HAVE ULTIMATE THIS WEEK b/c
of the rain, short notice ect. But we will start for sure next
monday, and other possibilities as they develop.

For this week, only, we should have a game tomorrow (Thursday, 9/29) on the
lower IM fields (where the soccer teams practice, below the track) from
7-9PM. Just look for the lights to come on at or a little after 7PM.

Starting next week, I believe the games are on Mondays (and either Wednesday
or Thursday depending on how many people sign up for softball or if we can
squeeze in space) at the fields on the corner of Canyon Crest and Blaine.
Monday for sure, though.

At the risk of posting too late to make a difference, yes the game is
happening tonight. It's on the intramural fields, which are on Canyon
Crest behind the softball stadium and next to the track. Here's a map
that might be somewhat helpful:

\
3,0.006686&t=h&hl=en

Hope you can make it! We'll probably have 7 on 7, so it should be a fun game.

Claremont (half our away) Saturday's at 5:30.  (You can find out more
about that by visiting the rsult yahoo group above.)

Hi Jess,

(1) If you are interested in the riverside game, I suggest you post
to, and sign up for, the mailing list and yahoo group:
rsult@yahoogroups.com. I think you can do that here: http://
sports.groups.yahoo.com/group/rsult/ . That group is for the
riverside game. The other list inlandultimate@yahoogroups.com is for
the (currently not happening) ford park game.

(2) I too would like to have a weekend game in Riverside. Don't know
if there is enough interest. Note that there is already a game in
Claremont (half our away) Saturday's at 5:30. (You can find out more
about that by visiting the rsult yahoo group above.)
