Just a quick email about our autumn courses, some of which get under
way this week. Saturday's the start of our beginners' skating course;
Wednesday 10th is the start of our classic courses for advanced and
new skiers. The next Dorney session is on Sunday 28th, and we have an
open tour of (a traffic-free) Richmond Park on Sunday 14th.
SATURDAY - SKATING & CLASSIC COURSE
Our main autumn course for beginners gets underway on Saturday. To
encourage newcomers to do both classic and skating, we have decided to
offer a 6-week course, with 3-weeks of skating followed by 3-weeks of
classic. (Although if you have already done skating / classic, you
can do just one of the 3-week stints).
For more information, and to book, see

CLASSIC - WEDNESDAY EVENING COURSES
Starting on Wednesday (10th Sept), we have our main classic rollerski
courses of the autumn. We will have 2 groups - one aimed at competent
skiers (in classic or skating style), and one at complete beginners -
and these will be our last technique-focused evening course of the
year, before the clocks go back.
To book the intermediate / advanced 6-week course, go to
http://www.rollerski.co.uk/events10.html
To book the beginners' 4-week course, go to
http://www.rollerski.co.uk/events1.html
You can start off in either group, and move between them if you wish.
DORNEY - INTRODUCTION OF LEVEL 3 COURSES
With a group of ever-improving rollerskiers, we've got to stay on our
toes to keep offering challenging sessions. With racers and potential
racers in mind, we will offer a new Level 3 group at our Dorney
sessions in September and November.
Like with our Level 1 & 2 groups, we will do 2 sessions of skating and
1 session of classic - but we will use fast racing rollerskis for the
second skating session. We've been experimenting with teaching some
of our more advanced skiers on faster rollerskis over the summer with
good results, and have now invested in a teaching 'fleet' of fast
rollerskis, to make a group possible at Dorney. This is a good chance
to try fast rollerskiing, which we think helps with balance and Skate
2 in particular.

INSTRUCTORS' NEWS
Congratulations to Alan Eason who finished 4th in the 21k race at the
'Kangaroo Hoppet' ski marathon races in Australia last weekend. Alan
is currently working as Nordic Ski School director at the Lake
Mountain ski resort near Melbourne - see
http://www.lakemountainresort.com.au/
Good luck to new instructor, Karolina Bicova, who is taking part in
the FIS Rollerski World Cup this weekend in Italy. Karolina did a
good job at our Dorney course in August, with skiers remarking on her
enthusiasm.
TRAFFIC-FREE TOUR OF RICHMOND PARK
On Sunday 14th September, we invite you to join us for a traffic-free
tour of Richmond Park. For competent rollerskiers only, this is a
chance to explore the 15 miles of road and tracks around the park,
without the usual intrusion of traffic. (The park is shut for a
duathlon, which takes place earlier in the day).
We'll meet at 4pm at the Sheen Gate entrance to the park - see

This is a free tour, but if you need to borrow rollerskis, the charge
is £10 (which we will refund if you go on to buy some rollerskis from
our shop). Please bring water, gloves and helmets.
We look forward to seeing you soon,
Best regards,
Iain
